Is Disneyland still free on your birthday?

I am researching and finding conflicting info. We are only going to be at the resort for 2 days, and if my son will be free on his birthday, then I will just get a one day hopper for both of us, and a one day/one park for Disneyland for myself for the second day. If not, then I'll just get a 2 day hopper for both of us.
Thanks!

I remember that promotion. If you had an annual pass, you received a gift card in the amount of a one day ticket.

Yep. We managed to be there on my birthday and both our sons' birthdays that year. 2009 I think. We had APs so got the gift cards.

That promotion was enough to convince my dad, not someone you would think of as a Disney person or a theme park person at all, to visit Disneyland. He used to just shake his head and say "Again?" every time he heard we were going back to Disneyland. He hadn't been since the early 70s (before any of us kids were born so I never went as a kid) and supposedly had no interest in going, but he likes freebies so when he heard he could get in free on his birthday, he planned a trip. We didn't go with him and my mom for his birthday that year, but they had enough fun on that free visit that they have gone with us twice since.

Because of that promo, I began an annual trip to DLR on my birthday :goodvibes. Sadly, I was not able to make it this year since I had plans to go to Dapper Day, which I also missed!

Anyway, I loved that! I got the gift card, which was awesome! The next year, I think, they did the "Give a Day, Get a Day" promo, where you could sign up to do some volunteer work with an organization that partnered with Disney for it. I waited a bit long to enroll and all that was left was making cat beds for an animal shelter. I thought that was a great thing to do, but what a lot of work and probably $50 out of pocket cost! I signed up every family member (6 of us) and when they sent me the info, I found out they required 20 cat beds per person and they had to be quilted with fleece on one side, cotton on the other, quilted and with batting in between. You had to supply the materials yourself. I was going to bow out but they told me I could cut it back to 10 per person. Since my kids were too little to help much and my dh doesn't know a thing about sewing, I got to make all 60 kitty beds by myself. Luckily, I got most of the material donated (friends gave me their leftover fleece) or purchased it at thrift stores (blankets). Took some time, but I did feel really good about it and it got the whole family a free day at DL, which was worth it! It did sort of bug me, though, to read about people who only had to sweep walkways for an hour or volunteer to pick up trash at a school, but that was my fault for waiting too long to sign up. I think the promo started in Jan. and by Feb. everything in my area was gone.

I also remember this promotion I can never go to a theme park on my BDay because it always hits during Labor Day weekend and going to a theme park on a holiday is a BAD IDEA.

Hi Holly! When are you going? We will be there March 22nd-25th!

Hey! that's so funny....small world on here isn't it? Tripp's birthday is on May 8th, so we're going on the 7th and the 8th (Wednesday and Thursday). Crossing my fingers for short lines on those days! Totally bummed that Pirates is supposed to be on refurb. though. So will Nemo, Alice in Wonderland (my favorite), It's a Small World, Little Mermaid, and who knows what else! I'm secretly happy about Nemo, because Tripp likes to do that one numerous times. I'm okay with doing it once, but after that, ughhhhhhhhh........!

I know, we are bummed too about all the closures! But, I decided yesterday we just have to deal with it and just be happy we are going! Are you going to take him to any character meals?

Amy,

Haven't planned that far yet, but that might be fun for his birthday. We haven't done that before.

Same here. :)

Yep. That year my b'day fell actually ON Columbus Day (it's officially the real Columbus day but that date doesn't always fall on the holiday monday), and DS's is generally over Memorial Day (that year it was the Tuesday after the holiday). Fun trips! :3dglasses
