Is Disneyland going to be a dissapointment?

Just been on my first trip to Disneyland, having previously visiting Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris. My girlfriend and I loved it, even with some of our favourite rides closed and the castle covered. We still didn't have time to do everything that was open, so its not too bad. DCA is excellent also. Cannot understand why people don't like it, they should visit Disney Studios in Paris, then they would learn to appreciate it!

Same here. Our family of seven, (son & family plus us) just got

back and we'd been to DW 4 times but this was our first visit to

DL and CA. We loved it all and were there six days! It was great

to take our time and go back to our hotel and swim in the

afternoon. The weather was beautiful too, much better then DW

in the summer!!! The rides with the same names were all a little

different anyway and most of them we actually like DL better!!

I'm glad we tried DL this time.

ANy idea when the castle will be revealed?

We just got back and enjoyed both of the parks. We only had two days, spent one long day at DL and the next at DCA. We saw and rode almost everything at DL. Could have used more time at DCA as there were a few things we were not able to get on due to wait times.

So, if you are going to be there for 4 days, you should have plenty of time to see and do all that you want! It is so easy to go between the parks and don't forget downtown disney!

The castle was covered, but other than noticing it as you first walk down main street, it wasn't that big of a deal (at least to us.).

We used our fast passes effectively--not all the machines are linked together. When you get your map, check out the rides/attractions that have fast passes. Here is a list (from another poster) of rides that have independent fast passes--are not hooked up to each other and to other ones.

"First off, there are TWO networks, one for the Disneyland Park, and a second for Disney's California Adventure. They are totally separate, so you can always get one FASTPASS for each park.

Independent Machines (AKA Stand-Alone)
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin(DL)
Star Tours(DL)
Grizzly River Run (DCA)
Muppet Vision 3D (DCA)
It's Tough to be a Bug! (DCA)"

So you can get a fast pass at one of the ones that are hooked together, then go get fast passes for any of the others. It also helps to have an idea of the layout of the park and plan how you want to proceed.

We really enjoyed the Hollywood section of DCA and did not have enough time there to do it all. Be sure to go to the Aladdin show! It is long--about 40 minutes, but worth it. Plus it is relaxing to sit in nice, soft seats for a while. The evening parade at DCA is great--we sat right at the entrance to the kids area--not crowded at all. Then when you leave, you can stay in the concourse area between the two parks and watch the fireworks show at DL again. What a way to end the evening before heading over to ESPN for a late night supper!

Take in all the shows, do your favorite rides twice, enjoy a character meal, go to DT Disney. Make the most of what is available and I'm sure you will have a very, very fun time!!!!!!!!

I believe that according to the signs desribing what the castle will look like when they're done and some of it's history, that it will be done sometime in November.

I don't generally come over to this board but as we'll be back in California next year, and just visited DLR 3 weeks ago I thought I'd visit.
We enjoyed Disneyland and DCA. As was mentioned a few rides were down but we did everything we wanted in a day. We were at the gates at 9:00 am and went into commando mode and had done Splash Mountain 3 times, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion by 10:15 am.
This was our first visit to California and Disneyland. It was fun and now they have one day hoppers (which I didn't find on the DLR site) it was much better imho.
I would have liked to have seen the castle instead of tarps but hey I'm sure as the 50th anniversary approaches more and more stuff will be covered for revamping.
We did most of what we wanted in one day. We left at 9:30 pm and were pretty beat, but happy with everything we saw.
The one thing that friends showed us was the single rider line/passes. That was great :) Saved us loads of time. Between that and fast passes we had a hoot.
I don't think we'll return next year, but will try Universal prior to our cruise. We'll have 14 days of the mouse onboard so think that will be enough :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

YAAAY! Than hopefully it'll be uncovered when we go! Sucks about SM and the RR they'll be closed when we're there.
