We just got back and enjoyed both of the parks. We only had two days, spent one long day at DL and the next at DCA. We saw and rode almost everything at DL. Could have used more time at DCA as there were a few things we were not able to get on due to wait times.
So, if you are going to be there for 4 days, you should have plenty of time to see and do all that you want! It is so easy to go between the parks and don't forget downtown disney!
The castle was covered, but other than noticing it as you first walk down main street, it wasn't that big of a deal (at least to us.).
We used our fast passes effectively--not all the machines are linked together. When you get your map, check out the rides/attractions that have fast passes. Here is a list (from another poster) of rides that have independent fast passes--are not hooked up to each other and to other ones.
"First off, there are TWO networks, one for the
Disneyland Park, and a second for Disney's California Adventure. They are totally separate, so you can always get one FASTPASS for each park.
Independent Machines (AKA Stand-Alone)
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin(DL)
Star Tours(DL)
Grizzly River Run (DCA)
Muppet Vision 3D (DCA)
It's Tough to be a Bug! (DCA)"
So you can get a fast pass at one of the ones that are hooked together, then go get fast passes for any of the others. It also helps to have an idea of the layout of the park and plan how you want to proceed.
We really enjoyed the Hollywood section of DCA and did not have enough time there to do it all. Be sure to go to the Aladdin show! It is long--about 40 minutes, but worth it. Plus it is relaxing to sit in nice, soft seats for a while. The evening parade at DCA is great--we sat right at the entrance to the kids area--not crowded at all. Then when you leave, you can stay in the concourse area between the two parks and watch the fireworks show at DL again. What a way to end the evening before heading over to ESPN for a late night supper!
Take in all the shows, do your favorite rides twice, enjoy a character meal, go to DT Disney. Make the most of what is available and I'm sure you will have a very, very fun time!!!!!!!!
