Great question! The answer is an emphatic YES!
My DW and I decided to have our first big vacation (more than a weekend) with our DD5. We felt our little girl Lauren would be about the right age at exactly 5 1/2 to handle a minivan trip and a big vacation.
Where to go? Hmmmm, how about WDW?
I had been there in 1975 for one day. Boy, how the times have changed.
I love to research for a vacation. These DISBOARDS have been a huge resource. I feel they also lend to the addictiveness since they are so accessible and there is that "insider" or "club" feeling due to the DW, DH, MK, AKL, etc little quick letter codes.
We went for the first time in June '02 for seven days. We stayed at a moderate resort.
We were just blown away at the quality and the wonderful treatment we received.
We had no intention of going back. When we got home with our pictures (12 rolls!), we watched the Disney produced video again. Hmmmm, we missed that and that and that and, gee we missed that too.
Maybe we should go back and make up for what we missed?
When it was time to think about a vacation for the summer of 2003, we just couldn't think of anything else we'd rather do.
So in August, down south we drove again. It was just as magical. Our DD6 just loved it again. We felt we managed things better, having experienced WDW once already. We were better equipped, had a better plan. We did it all this time. We took in the old attractions we decided against during our first trip (Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, etc).
Now we have so much Disney clotheswear and other things, we are thinking that a
Disney Cruise next year might be the way to go.
The plan now is to return to WDW in six years when we'll then have a DD12. She will probably not remember much and being there will be alot of fun to jog her memory.
But I wouldn't be surprised if we return earlier. Or maybe a trip to
DisneyLand instead!
Our kitchen is now Disney themed. DD6 has been a Disney princess or character for halloween the last five years. We carved Disney pumpkins last year!
Addictive? Oh yeah. And I'm a guy!
