Is DHS EMM worth it?

We are going to WDW 1/6-1/10, our DHS day is the 7th, which is an EMM day. I was able to get a FP to Slinky Dog for 5:00pm. Is it worth spending an extra $330 for EMM???

Is it now only Toy Story Land? We did it in 2016 where Toy Story Mania, Star Tours, and a meet 'n greet were open. We though it was worth it because the 2 rides are our favorites at DHS. IMHO, if it's just the rides in Toy Story then I would say it's not.

Worth is subjective so can't really answer that for you....but if you haven't already I'd encourage you to read up on the DHS Toy Story Land EMM thread, particularly the DISer review post links on Post #3: DHS/Toy Story Land "Early Morning Magic" (EMM) FAQ & Discussion

While reviews generally slant positive (with exceptions, of course), like with most Disney extras there are details and nuances to the event that are worth researching/understanding to see if it's a good fit/the right choice for you before making the commitment.

I've done a fare amount of research on EMM and reading other DIS reports and I don't think it's worth it for only TSL and breakfast. A lot of people also say TSL is so much better at night with all the decorations light up, so an evening FP might be nice. Speaking only from opinion as we haven't been to TSL yet, our upcoming trip will be the first time there. With that said I can't justify the cost for what is basically 2 new rides and some food.

EMM, not EMH

If you already have the SDD FP, then it should be pretty easy to RD TSM and AS2. You can be towards the back of the pack, as nearly everyone will peel off to do SDD, and then you can likely hit AS2, the character meets, and TSM in the first hour of park open.

If you didn't want to use a day of FP at HS, then EMM would be a good way to do the park and save your FPs for later at another location. Since you have the SDD FP in hand, I don't think the expense makes sense for you.

I did the EMM and I don’t think it was worth it. We rode SDD three times but that was enough. Same with TSMM. The Alien ride is not very exciting.

Perhaps if you have young kids who also want to meet the characters it could be worth it, but I wouldn’t recommend DHS EMM.

If a Guest is a HUGE SDD Fan,I think it is worth it.

It is really cool to ride SDD over and over and over....!

And I think I ATE enough to cover the cost!(The food was AWESOME!!!!)

I think "worth it" is going to be different for everyone. My mother and I will be attending next week. While I haven't yet experienced it, from our perspective, even one ride on each attraction and a chance to check out TSL with low crowds will make it worth the money in our eyes. Especially since we don't do much at DHS and this frees up FP+ selections for Epcot in the afternoon.

You have to decide what's important to you. Do you want the chance to explore TSL with lower crowds? Do you want to be able to free up some FP+ for use on other attractions/other parks? What's worth it to some is not going to be worth it to others.

It made sense for us because we had only three park days and we planned just a half day in DHS. Like PP, EMM freed up FPs for our afternoon in Epcot. If I had planned a full day in DHS and had a FP for SDD, I wouldn't find much value in EMM.

Is it worth it to spend more than the day ticket itself just to have short (to no) waits for the Toy Story attractions?

If Toy Story Land is a "goal" for your trip, than I think it may be a fun experience if it was in your budget.

The problem is there is so little else in DHS (unless you've never been there) that your day will be over pretty early and eating

I personally RDed TSM and it was the quickest I have ever flown through that queue (pretty much a walk-on) - 10-15 minutes tops. We waited for AS2 after lunch, and it was a pretty long wait -- definitely not a ride "worth" a 45+ minute wait.

To me .. Toy Story Land as a whole was fun, but small and unimpressive. Not something I personally would spend money on in a park that is pretty attraction-lite anyway.

The reviews are generally quite positive, breaking down a bit on double sold out mornings. Review the above thread, SUPER organized and useful

And don't underestimate the value of the Breakfast-the selections are awesome!!!!

It was the highlight of our last trip, but we are huge Toy Story fans. I sunburn really easily and that area has NO shade, so getting our fill of HS before the sun was brutal was awesome. Being able to slow down and take in the details of TSL without hordes of people was great. We rode SDD a bunch, AS2 and TSM several times. We grabbed a delicious breakfast then hopped over to ToT after the RD crowds streamed in because there was 0 wait with everyone stampeding to TSL.

This is why Disney will push this EMM to each park. Plenty of people are willing to pay for Fast Passes (on top of the normal day ticket price).
It's a brilliant strategy. Make the demand for three rides high (by limiting the FREE fast passes you can get by making them all Tier 1) and then sell a hard-ticket event that circumvents that. Heh.

Personally, I would do this to experience Star Wars Galaxy's Edge .. and if the demand is as high as expected, I would anticipate them offering this for Star Wars land EVERY morning! Just to experience the "immersion" of the land without crowds.

I found TSL way too crowded - so I too would find it tempting to experience TSL with low crowds.

I feel it wasn't due to a lot of people, but simply due to poor design. The walkways in and around TSL seem very narrow compared to other lands and with a "dead end" at the bathrooms it is just awful. The area around Woody's Lunch box was crowded, hardly any tables, and the area to order and wait for food was also very small.
Also .. how does SDD NOT have a queue area long enough to accommodate 60+ minute lines? Did no one anticipate that it would be the most popular ride in the park for a while? Or did they just feel that it eventually won't be as popular once SWGE opens?
The fact that was constantly across the bridge and going towards the entrance just seems like awful design. TSM feels like it has a better queue .. longer AND inside.

Not sure it would be worth it to me for that cost but if you want multiple rides on SDD or to ride TSM several times it is probably the only way to do that.

I say just do rope drop and you should be able to knock out SDD and TSM within the first 45 minutes. Many of the EMM people will be moving on after they got their head start on TSL.

I don't think it's worth it. But that's probably just us. We get to the park at rope drop and utilize our time to the best of our ability without paying for any extras.

I agree with this. I thought the staging was really well done, but the layout awful.

I would not pay for the EMM at DHS, but others seem to enjoy the experience based on the reviews. Good luck with whatever you decide.
