Is DCA the 'new and improved' HS?

We had a great time at EP but I'm ready to move on to non tiered pastures. I actually do want to hit Universal while I'm out your way. It doesn't have HP YET thank goodness and I can't stand the thought of spending so much at USO and having to skip so much HP themed stuff. Thinking 3-4 days at DLR and one at USH for the moment.

Ugh. I still can't believe people LIVE in places like CA and FL...:(

The only DHS ride I wish were at DCA is The Great Movie Ride.

Ooooh, let's go with that.

I think GMR is vastly underrated at DHS and it is one I really wish was at DCA too. But even more than that is Rockin Rollercoaster. I would take that over CA Screamin in a heartbeat. Perfectly themed ride and queue and pre-show.

I would also take the LMA show, the Sci-Fi Dine-in and Mulch, Sweat and Shears.

DCA vs HS

DCA is an amazing park. More attention to detail and plenty to do and see.

Wow, if anyone would have said DCA had "attention to detail" 6 years ago they would have been laughed off the forum. But Disney has done a great job with DCA in the last few years for sure.

There is something about DHS though that feels more exciting than DCA. I think it is because their theme is more consistent around Hollywood. DCA's theme is not as strong or consistent. But with the refurb completed in 2012 it much better than before.

Cross-coast expectations for the parks to be similar almost universally end in unhappiness. WDW and DLR are extraordinarily different places, right down to the park level. The idea that you might not like Disneyland because you're familiar with Magic Kingdom, or that you might like California Adventure because you like Hollywood Studios, will get you nowhere. MK and DL are surprisingly different from each other, and so are DCA and DHS. They may look alike in some ways, but they feel utterly different and are, in fact, operated by completely different management teams. The things you take for granted on one coast you are not going to find on the other.

Different management is a super big plus for me. I'm excited about seeing new stuff, its all great to me. I'm trying to convince BIL that its more similar to DHS than just DL. But in the end, if he doesn't go for it, it won't change it for me either way. Just trying to find a comparison he can sort of relate to. A lot on the other board think DHS needs some major help...
