Just curious, if you are having a "discussion" with your child (say a 8-11 year old) and they say your opinion is "crap". Or if your child says the dinner you just cooked tasted like "crap"? Or doing your homework is "crap"? Are you still all right with the word crap? and if not, what context makes the word crap acceptable?

Not anymore acceptable if they say my food sucks. Both are disresprectful to ME. Now if my son wants to say his homework is crap or sucks then that is fine. If it is meant to be disrespectful to me then it is wrong no matter what word he uses.

But if he says his homework is crap, isn't that being very disrespectful to the teacher that assigned it?

Crap in are house means things on the barn floor! (and only that!) I was raised in Indiana with alot of farmers.

He can have an opinion about his teacher. As long as he doesn't tell her it's crap then he's fine. He can have an opinion about my food. As long as he doesn't tell me it's crap, he's fine.

I don't use the term "bad words" with my kids. I tell them some words are "grown up" words but I never use the term "bad words", I just don't like it, I think it's a crappy term. ;)

I don't think there's anything wrong with the word crap, I don't use it often but that's because I say **** instead and they sorta have the same meaning. :tilt: :teeth:
