Is Concierge worth the additional $$$?

Firstly each to thier own...

Disney Fantasy - I'll try to get this across as simply as possible. I tried to engage the concierge. This was not a case of having my expectations too high. This was not a case of me not knowing how things work. This was not a case of not knowing how to handle the atmosphere.

I'm an incredibly outgoing person. I had sailed many cruises by the time I booked CL. I have grown up with Disney and know what basic Disney service should look like. We didn't even get that. We got rude. Snide. Uppity. I've had better service from custodial staff.

I've spent my life on both sides of the coin. Hampton Inn/Best Western style hotels with my parents and country clubs, suites and fancy hotels with my grandparents. I've traveled the world and been to most of the countries in the Western Hemisphere. I have had a truly global experience.

I don't expect to be waited on hand and foot and frankly I don't need it. I do expect to be treated like a human being and not a second class citizen.

I will continue to share my experience because if it were me deciding to spend a ton of money I'd want honest reviews. From people like myself.

I would say you have mis read my posts, I am all for free speech and honest reviews, you have said yours and posted in your own way, I have posted mine, do continue to share your personal experience, mine is different and mine are honest and not cheerleading DC.

Don't think that you specifically are cheerleading (at least not most of the time) but there are those here who do.

Also don't think you were calling me out and I don't think I've misunderstood you at all. Only wanted to address your specific suggestions as to why I might have had the experience I did. For clarification and so others can make their own assessment.

Understood.

I personally like to see everyones opinions, everyone view points are very valid, I do not cheerlead DCL ,if they do a good job I say it, if they mess up I say it.

I had a few conversations with Mr Karl Holz recently, he is a very very nice man, I said it to him, as it is, more moans than praise , he was charming and took notes and said he would check into things.

My service in July 2014 in concierge was fantastic.

Previous years have been good and some ok.

I have had mainly good meals, I have reported one or two bad meals, so certainly not a fanboy.

I respect everyones views, your experience is different to mine but we all have different expectations.

I have used concierge just once over my 10 sailings. I enjoy the concierge level on the Dream-class ships (Dream, Fantasy) because of the location of the staterooms. The location and less noise was good for me. I actually prefer a Category 4A, but on our 7-Night Fantasy cruise (in 2 Cat 4As), the noise coming form Deck 11 was horrendous even at 2AM. I'm a light sleeper and I just dealt with it; however, I longed for my Deck 11 concierge cabin. (We were in 10576 and 10578. I then did a 4-Night on the Dream in 10548 in April 2014.)

As for the concierge services themselves, I did not use much of the it except for the lounge. I did take one of the iPads and the free internet was a nice touch. We also received the Inaugural lithograph. We did not do any of the restaurants (Palo/Remy) and didn't do any real special excursions. In fact, for Nassau, I booked a room at Atlantis and we took a cab there. It was nice to have a room to leave our stuff while we had full access to Atlantis.

I choose concierge staterooms primarily for the stateroom itself. Not for any "special" services.

Anyone have adults who have slept on the couch in the concierge room category T 1- bedroom suite. Curious how comfy this would be. We are thinking of getting this room with my Dad and giving him the bedroom and hubby and I on couch and my son on the pull down.

We just got off the Dream yesterday, 3 night Concierge Cat V. To us it was worth every penny....now I book early and it was a 3 night in late August so the cost was not that much more .....5 of us for $3100 instead of$2650.

We loved the whole experience. The Concierge Staff were so nice. A big shout out to Danny, Andy and Annie. The BEST!!!!!:thumbsup2

We are now spoiled.....since we will not be cruising again for a few years we will definitely do Concierge again and hopefully again.:cheer2:

We were in a CAT V, so I don't know if it's the same couch. It was more comfortable than any sleeper sofa I have ever slept on, and it's a double. I wanted to do the CAT T (1-bdrm) since the couch is more centered in the room and the pulldown over by the desk.

my 2 cents I'm 3 for 3 with great concierge experience. 4th booked for Nov. Done all the Cat's with equal quality.

Well one night in the my 4 day Dream in 12526 cat T, I was sawing a too many logs in my sleep. Going from dry cold to humid hot get me everytime. So in a last minute thing I setup the sleeper myself. I can honestly say it was VERY comfortable, the closest in support to my home bed I every sleep in away from home.

Feel the need to point out that if you've only sailed concierge you have no idea how much "better" the service is than without it. I'm completely 100% over the hype/cheerleading. We have sailed concierge and had the WORST service we've ever had on a ship, including non-Disney sailings. I had to name an individual on the concierge team on my comment card for poor service. It is not sunshine and rainbows all of the time.

So, you say you are sharing your experience, but...are you? You say you had to call a cm out on the comment card. For what? You state that you were treated as a second class citizen. In what way? It's very very hard to decide if an experience is one that would bother a different person if specifics aren't given. Know what I mean? I feel that you've given us an outline, the Cliff notes version, but you haven't told us what actually happened.

Any chance you could share in a more specific way?
