Is closing down MK and then heading to MCO crazy???

We did a day trip. Flew in the night before, picked up a rental car and stayed off-site that night. Woke up and rope dropped Epcot. Left Epcot around 2 for MK and that nights MVMCP. Left MK about 4 5minutes after close and took the rental car to McDonalds on property and had a snack. We took a quick nap in the rental car. Returned the rental around 5 and headedto our gate for our 7am flight home.

So yes it can be done. I would make a habit of it but now it's a core memory for us and a fun story to tell.
Sounds dun! This may be a one and done for me too but my daughter is excited for the extra day in the Parks so we will give it a try!

I am considering booking a flight home from MCO @ 5am on a Saturday. It's soooo much cheaper than flying anytime Friday- because who wants to fly at 5am lol. We would check out on Friday and MK closes at 11pm. So assuming we get back to pick up our luggage from bell services around midnight/12:30am. we should have 1.5ish hours until our Mears shuttle (I'm assuming this would be scheduled for 2am). Does that sound about right? Trying to decide if this is a totally crazy idea before I ask my daughter if she wants to do it....she will say yes. Has anyone done this???
How much money are you saving?

I would do it. Make sure you eat at MK, everything will be closed at the hotel and airport that early.I would take Mears back to the airport. MCO has some very comfortable chairs near the food court before security. I hate getting up early for flights. I would plan on having someone pick me up at the airport rather than driving home. Let us know how it works outs if you do it.

I suggest you get through security and bag check and check-in asap and set up a spot at your gate.

The MCO gates have all different kinds of seating options. Find the one that’s most comfortable for what your plan is… napping, or a table for a card game etc and set up camp. Sometimes there are delays or the gate fills up fast and your only option is a chair.

Plus I find it less stressful knowing all I have to do is board. I also suggest setting alarms on phones while waiting at the gate in case you both fall asleep while waiting to board. I would be paranoid I would miss my flight. lol

Good call on the food, thanks! Will do!

All great advice. Thank you!

I'd do it but I'm also the kinda person who has taken a red-eye home from California more than once and gone directly from the airport to the office. I uptick the coffee that day but it's worth it to me to squeeze every minute possible out of a vacation!! :D

I can also confirm that the seating options near the food court are more comfortable for napping. My experience has been many of the waiting areas near the flights, the seats have arms but in this area there are some locations that lend better to napping.
