Is Cirque du Soleil worth the high ticket price?

Glad to find this thread and see quite a few positive reviews. We really want to take our kids to see this on our Christmas trip this year. It's going to be pricey for us but I'm hoping it's worth it!

We've seen multiple Cirque show in Vegas...'O', Mystere ( 3 times), KA, Love ( 2 times), Zumanity ( don't take kids to that one :rotfl2:), and La Reve ( not technically a Cirque show but by the same producers). We've also seen Blue Man there and honestly I didn't much care for it. :confused3

Does the show run at all in January / early February?
The show runs Tuesday thru Saturday all year. There are a few "dark periods" such as the next 2 weeks (May 14th - 28th) but it runs all year otherwise. It is truly an amazing show and unique to Disneyworld but as many others have said, you want to sit back and up high, there are no bad seats in the theatre even the VIP booth is way up in back with the control booths.

The Downtown Disney Cirque show is very high quality, in a great custom venue, and a great bargain for a Cirque show. You typically have to pay double the Disney prices in Las Vegas for a show of comparable quality. If you would like to see one of these, this is a good one and a great place to do it. Cirque fans (which seem to be most people) love this show.

All that being said I have been to numerous cirque shows and this particular one three times as DH is a big fan. Personally, though, I'm just not a fan. It wouldn't be worth it to me personally because I don't care for the shows. Cirque du Soleil is just too dark and wierd for my taste. I believe, though, based on my limited contacts who have gone to Cirque shows that I am definately in the minority on this. Note: The Orlando show is a little less dark than most of the Vegas shows, probably because it caters to a family audience. True fans though are just as impressed with this one as anything in Las Vegas, though.

We have seen La Nouba at WDW and Mystere in Vegas and thought La Nouba was far better. We definitely thought it was worth it.

We also saw Blue Man Group in Vegas and loved it, so I would assume the Uni BMG would also be good.

I agree with linzbear...if you enjoy going to shows in general, you will most likely enjoy Cirque.

DD and I saw La Nouba when she was 16. She'd been dying to see it but it's too expensive for us. However, Disney VISA offered 30% off tickets, so we went. She was in heaven... I was bored. We are "performing arts" people, so that's not it. I just didn't like it, but went for DD's sake, and am glad we did... but I won't go again. Now, Blue Man Group: Didn't want to go, didn't think I'd like it, etc., but it was worth EVERY PENNY. Just so different, and yes, I'd go again to BMG.

If I couldn't get a hefty discount for Cirque, or if there were more than a couple of people in my party, I'd skip La Nouba in a heartbeat.

leebee,
I too have the Disney Visa, do u know how often they offer discounts on cirque? I don't remember seeing anything recently. That would be GREAT if they do that again soon!

There is an going discount promo codes on Cirque home/website for 25% off:mic:
