Is cirque du soleil suitable for small kids?

My DD was 5 at the time and she loved it. I've never seen her so quiet and attentive! We are going to go back in June and can't wait.

it would of course depend on your kids. There is always something going on during the show. If you have altenative entertainmen (such as pen and paper, etc) in case they do get bored that would be a good backup. But it is loud and busy, so they should be alright. It won't make sense to them probably (lol hard enough for adults to get the story line ) and there won't be any characters. But like i said, there is always something going on somewhere on stage.

I agree, it really depends on your kids. I will say that if I had any question as to if my kids would enjoy it or be able to handle it, I'd probably wait another year to be sure, rather than have to leave in the middle and waste a lot of money. Your milage may differe...

Keep in mind this is a show where the audience is expected to stay in their seats and quiet for almost all the show. If they aren't up for that, you should probably not take them.

I wanted to add that when we attended this show there were just as many kids as adults. The show is loud and with a lot of oohs and aahs and quite a bit of laughter. This is not like some Broadway show. It really is a family show and I highly recommend it.

We took our kids. They were about that age. They loved it and want to go again. It will keep their attention. There is even a little pre-show going on while everyone finds their seat. They have a booster seat you can pick up at the front door so short children will be able to see over the person in front of them.

I have never seen kids get too restless at Cirque - I've been 4 times, and there is always something (usually 2 or 3 things) going on on the stage.

It is a wonderful show. It's about an hour and a half, with a short preshow (maybe 15 or 20 minutes), so it isn't too bad as far as length for sitting through.

There's a part where a quartet of little Asian girls do a spool on a rope juggling and acrobatic act and they totally steal the show! Kids will love it! There's also a part with bikes that kids will probably appreciate too.

DD (5) loved it!! She keeps asking if we can back. We had really nice seats for her also, we were in the high sections but the front row of it, so I didnt have to worry about someone sitting in front of her. She stood the whole show just mesmorized but she didnt even say a word to us, except wow! All the show it was Wow!

And on the "flip side" -- my 4yo DS wants Nothing to do with it. I think the planning video with the guy in 'scary' make-up makes this one a definate no-go. He has already memorized the basic WDW overview map and knows the round white building is where "NaNoooobuh" is -- but we're not going there." :scared:

it's great. a Circus without the Animals or down time. In addition to the main act there is also a tons of stuff going on in the back.

The only kids that should not go are the ones scared of clowns.

As far as the "story" goes. I didn't understand it LOL

My son (now 5) LOVES Cirque! He hasn't seen LaNouba yet but will this coming Dec. when we go. He's seen 2 of the traveling Cirque shows (the first at 3 and a half) and just LOVES them. He loves watching them on TV and doing his own "moves". Really got him into gymnastics! Seriously, I think most kids get GLUED to what they see when it starts! Last show that came here was Corteo and we couldn't afford to have all of us go so I made sure my son and hubby went and he had a BLAST! He still talks about the rubber chickens falling down from the ceiling. Go and enjoy! They will! :hyper:

We just got our tickets yesterday for the June 13th show. I can't wait. My kids saw part of a Cirque show on tv and they cannot wait to see it live.

I'll move this thread to the Theme Parks board, and I'm sure there will be even more response!!
