Is Chef Mickey late breakfast a mistake?

I have a late breakfast (10:20) res. for Chef Mickey.
The kids think the pictures look awesome.
However, reading these boards, I'm getting nervous.
Is it all bad?

What have you heard? :confused3

Many people pick a late breakfast and then snack and only eat one more meal a day.

This is what we do. We get the last seating available for a character meal and make it our "lunch". Then we eat a counter service for dinner.

I think its the perfect time!!

I've also read that if you are one of the last to leave, the characters spend more time with you.

It's actually not the time I'm concerned about.
I've been reading alot of bad reviews like about the place in general and the food. For example, I was reading a worst type board posting. We do have other ressies at other buffets which have good reviews, but just saw alot of negative.
Hoping there are good experiences out there too.

You should take every review you read with a grain of salt. I have read some really bad reviews about some of my favorite places to eat at WDW. I think you guys should go and check it out for yourselves. We have never had a bad breakfast at any of the character meals we have tried at Disney.

I really hate to be a naysayer, and please don't read too much into this, but it's an honest experience, it may have just been a bad day...

We used to have a tradition of doing Chef Mickey's character breakfast early on the last morning of our trip (since way back when, when CM was in Downtown Disney), because it was the best character meal in our opinion, the food was good, and the character interaction was great.

On our last trip, we couldn't get an ADR at our "usual" time, so we did it in the middle of the trip, around 10:30-ish. I was heartbroken. We waited at least a half hour for a table, the food was terrible and the characters didn't get over to us until we had already paid and were ready to leave. We won't be going back.

Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I was horribly disappointed, and we won't be returning.

We eat at Chef Mickey's every trip. It is a must do for my boys. I think the food is fine. We've never had a problem or long wait to see a character. Last year we did CM's on the first day of our trip b/c it was my youngest son's 2nd birthday. The characters were *extra* great to him that day.

This trip we have an 11:00 ressie and are really looking forward to it. I've also heard you get more interaction with them if you are one of the last ressie's. We'll see. Normally we do an earlier seating so we can get going in the parks.

With every restaurant, you'll read good and bad reviews. Try it for yourselves and base your opinion on that.

Personally I have read bad reviews of CM dinner, but not many about the breakfast.

I'd keep the reservations you have. I have been reading reviews of a lot of character buffets and I need to try it for myself instead of taking peoples word for it. The last two trips we have had reservations at Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana and Garden Grill. I have read many bad reviews about Garden Grill but that turned out to be one of the best meals we had at Disney next to 'Ohana of course! Chef Mickey's breakfast turned out to be a disappointment both trips for us but don't let reviews stop you from trying it for yourself!

We had a WONDERFUL late breakfast at CM last December & it was one of our fave meals of the entire trip. The food was hot & delicious. Our server was awesome & the character interaction was really great. Plus, it looked like everyone else in our section was enjoying CM just as much as us. I would keep your ressie & enjoy every minute of it!

It is our first day tradition. I get the 11:25 breakfast seating and we have brunch. The characters come around more than once b/c there is only one room left open. We say each of them twice, and Donald 3 times.

I have a milk intolerance, so the chef always makes me special mickey waffles. I have enjoyed the potatoes and other foods I can tolerate. My boys love it, and my DH says it is tasty.

I wouldn't miss it.

Second thoughts, aren't they the worst!

If you have wanted to try CM and the kids are excited, give it a shot. There will be positive and negative reviews for every restaurant

People love 'ohana, I wouldn't eat there if you paid me. So who is right :confused3, both since it is all based on individual experience

Hope you love it! :thumbsup2

For me, a Chef Mickey Breakfast is a last morning tradition. I always feel like I get to say goodbye to the gang personally. :grouphug: So I would say, nope. You are not making a mistake by going.

You should take every review you read with a grain of salt. I have read some really bad reviews about some of my favorite places to eat at WDW. I think you guys should go and check it out for yourselves. We have never had a bad breakfast at any of the character meals we have tried at Disney.
I agree because usually when people have a bad experience chances are they will post about it a lot more then if they had a positive experience. Plus for every bad review you might read on here about the resorts, restaurants or attractions you will also read some very good reviews of the same ones.

We LOVE late breakfast at Chef Mickey's! It is the one thing we've done EVERY trip and never plan to change!!! :cloud9: We sleep in, take our time getting to the Contemporary, have breakfast around 10:30, skip lunch, and have an early dinner. :thumbsup2 It is wonderful!!! There are lots of good choices on the buffet, and how can you beat unlimited Mickey waffles?!?!?!?!? ;) The characters there are fantastic! We have some of our favorite pictures from our breakfast there on our last trip. We usually end up buying the big plate picture, too! :thumbsup2

I would take any breakfast time @ Chef Mickeys...just so we could get in just once...

If you dont mind mass produced buffet food, you should be fine. There is a lot to choose from, youre bound to find something you like. When all else fails for me, there are always muffins and cereal! I love when I dont like breakfast! It makes walking the parks after the meal so much easier!

My sis would never have anything positive to say about a buffet meal. All reviews are so personal and you have no idea what kind of person is writing them. Someone could tell me a million times that the lobster is fabulous, but I would never have anything good to say about a lobster meal, as I dont like seafood!

Enjoy CM!

We usually try for a lat breakfast, 11am being great. It is less hectic, but the food remains hot, characters seem to be around more frequent. Last time we did this I had on my Carolina Panthers shirt and Pluto recognized it and began to make a fuss, as if to say he was a fan too. Then he made my fingers into a wolf shape that stands for NC State Wolfpack, my fav college team. The characters had more time to interact because we were the only room of people left. But we didnt feel rushed.

We have been earlier times, but prefer the late time. Go and enjoy!!

We did a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's on our last day of our tirp last year and absolutely loved it! It was probably our favorite meal of the trip, we liked it way better than our Princess breakfast in Norway. I am sure you will love it, too. :goodvibes
