We're off to Disneyland Paris and the Disneland Hotel in August! It's a treat really - not been the best of years; not the worst; but it's had its stresses - and thinking about upgrading to castle club as a surprise for DW? The question is : is it worth it? We'll no doubt spend most time out anyway!!!! Any comments from both sides would be greeat!!! See ya pals!

We're going to the Disneyland Hotel next Monday. After booking we decided to upgrade to Castle Club, but found out we'd have to pay the difference between the early offer we booked under and the rack rate for CC. The helpful CM suggested we turn up and ask to upgrade when we get there as we'll probably then only have to pay the difference between standard room rack rate and CC - so hopefully we'll get to CC next week and will get back to you about whether it was worth it (the VIP fastpasses seem to make it worth it alone to me)

I notice on your sig you've been to Contemporary - that's our choice for next WDW visit. What was it like? What type of room did you have and what would your recommendation be?

Cheers

A

I love the idea of it, but personally I could only do it if money was no object!!! The difference in price between CC and a even a standard DLH room, especially when the special offers are running, just doesn't seem to be worth it for complimentary afternoon tea, a private lift and the FPs.

But that is just my opinion, and I'm a self confessed tightwad!! Also I haven't stayed at the DLH, let alone Castle Club - perhaps if I did, I might think it worth every penny!

If you feel you can afford it, then why not do it!!

We have never been to Castle Club so mine is an othersiders view :teeth:

The luxury and the VIP passes are no doubt a great extra but I could not justify the extra expense. I'd rather use the budget for treats and food :goodvibes
I'm sure you'll have a great time what ever you decide :)

I looked at the price of both a standard room and a CC room and the difference in price is massive for what you get extra. I guess the price makes it more "exclusive".
I'd be happy with a standard room and I am even debating if the upgrade from HNY to the DLH is worth it. :)
However i guess it would be a lovely surpise for your DW.

I'd have to agree with the others, I've enjoyed reading the trip reports from those that have done CC and it does sound wonderful, but I don't think there's anyway I'd be able to jusitfy spending the extra, especially given that we spend so little time at the hotel ourselves - I'd much rather spend the money on treats, be it nice restaurants or just souveniers.
Mind you, I'd be absolutely thrilled if my DH surprised me with the DLH let, alone Castle Club :goodvibes

I know CC is expensive and yes you can buy lots of things for the price difference but we think it is worth it. The VIP treatment, the breakfast at the lounge, the afternoon tea, the elevator, the VIP fast passes......we love it!!!

I have only been in a standard room. From what I understand and can gleam from pictures - the standard room size is pretty much the same as the CC room - the decor, bathroom and furniture also look the same aswell. Our standard room also had a pretty fab view over the front of the hotel and Disney Village with good view of Panormagique going up and down.

So I guess what you have to ask yourself is whether the added expense is going to be justified for the CC extras that you get. If you intend to make full use of your VIP fastpasses, your afternoon teas and private breakfast area then I would say to go for it. Otherwise, I would think you would be just as well staying with the standard and asking if a specific room (that you know has a good view) is available.

I personally, would like to try it just 'once' only to know how it feels to be 'that' special and perhaps your DW will appreciate you spoiling her and letting her know how special she is to you after a tough year.

Is it just you and your DW going or are you taking family with you?

I would very much like to stay at the DLH CC "just the once" for the sheer thrill of feeling special! :rotfl: However it is very unlikely to happen until the DDs have all grown up unless we win the lottery! :rotfl2:

If money is not an object I would say "go for it"! :thumbsup2 I think that it would be a lovely surprise for your DW especially as the last year has been a bit stressful. :goodvibes

Bad news... just phoned to price up the difference and they are now saying that they're are no castle club rooms available for when we are visiting... shame.

Thats a shame..however I am sure stay at the DLH will be special on it own.
