Is BWV due to be rehabbed soon?

BWV is our home resort. Our last 2 stays there have been in units that looked really worn. Also, the hall carpeting and paint looked worn. We are wondering if BWV is due for a rehab on the inside anytime soon?

I don't know about the rooms, but when I was there 2 weeks ago they certianly had a lot of painting going on both on the exterior and interior public spaces.

Funny you should ask this. I just stayed there Monday-Weds and thought the same thing. :confused3

They were painting in the hallway when I was there the first week of December. I remember they had a full rehab around 2000 when I first bought, I'm not sure if there was one since.

Unlike most timeshares, DVC doesn't have a set schedule for refurbishment. All timeshares I've owned otherwise had some type of ongoing schedule usually 5 years for soft good and 10 years for hard goods. The longest I've seen at one of my resorts is 7/14 and that one went downhill over time though it's coming back with a hefty special assessment that would have cost me over $6K plus a major yearly increase if I still owned the weeks there. They've had 2 other SA and a 25% increase in yearly fees previously. In my buying and selling weeks there over the years (I've owned quite a few), I always managed to miss the SA by selling just before (usually a couple of months) and buying back right afterwards. And the selling to miss the SA was always simply coincidence as I didn't know in advance. And the best part is I can still book there any size units any time of the year subject to availability plus I still have weeks locked in that I can automatically use including two late winter 2 BR ocean front units.

DVC has been around for 16 years now and (to my knowledge) there have never been any wholesale refurbishments of resorts--nothing on the scale of what we have recently seen in the cash rooms at the Contemporary and Poly. As Dean said, things are addressed when they prove to be problems. That includes individual guest rooms as well as common areas. Although your room may have looked a little shabby, the one next door may have just received new paint, wallcoverings and carpeting.

We were chatting with some BWV owners at Thanksgiving and I asked about the condition of BWV(after some TR's I have read on here:eek: ). They agreed that BWV does need some rehab done to it. Didn't get any specifics as the DH's were to busy checking out the construction at the Contemp(on a bus to MK).

We stayed at BWV both in May and October, and the rooms were in fine condition. In October, they were painting the hallway on the 4th floor....

Wonder what Samantha Brown (Travel Channel) thought of her BWV villa? She stayed there during her recent taping of "Disney Holiday Magic". She stays in so many nice rooms -- I would bet that BWV management probably made sure she stayed in one that was in pretty good condition!!

And BW view no less.

In June they were redoing all the wood floors. I think at the BW they redo things little by little. Paint here a new coach there etc.

My mom had a one bedroom (over looking pool) and I have to say it was in great condition and equal to our Inn room condition wise. I think that they could do a few things like add a flatscreen etc. just to catch up with the newer dvc but then they would have to do all of them!
