Is Brazil closed?

What's the typical carry over into the months surrounding July and January? Do the numbers taper off? Do they dissapear completely/mostly? Or is July just the peak month, and in June/August there are less of them but they're still there in significant numbers?

Ugh, I hate those damn tour groups! Back in 2005 the only trouble we ran into was with the Brazilian tour groups. I couldn't take the chanting and being obnoxious brats and pretending to not speak English. It was literally nauseating! We were there from July 9 - August 6 (it was a long trip!) and it was a whole lot worse in July than it was in August. However, it wasn't too bad last summer so I'm hoping this summer won't be too bad. The worst experience we had was 2 years ago at Islands of Adventure. The tour groups were HORRENDOUS. Last year, though, we spent three weeks at Universal and didn't see one tour group. Finger crossed for no tour groups this August!

This alone tells me you haven't been there during "Brazil Month" AKA, July.
It is really not possible to ignore them, believe me. When 100 clapping, chanting, yelling teenagers come running in your direction, you take notice - trust me.

Oh heck no, you couldn't pay me to go to WDW in July! Between the heat, the crowds and now the Brazilian tour groups... no way Jose. :sad2: I'll take the week after Labor Day, thank you very much.

I did manage to visit earlier this year when the cheerleading groups were there. They were mildly annoying but really not bad at all.

As I posted earlier, we've been to WDW in early August twice in recent years, and we've never seen a tour group of any kind.

I'm sorry but this thread bothers me. If its really about large group and the large group mentality, then say so but to focus in on a specific nationality borders on prejudice. I realize we come of this board to rant and rave at times but lets practice a little more tolerance, please.

You must not have encountered these tour groups. There's no such thing as tolerance when it comes to a lot of the Brazilian tour groups because if they don't care about disrespecting me, I won't have ANY tolerance for them. Of course it's not ALL Brazilian tour groups causing trouble, but unfortunately every Brazilian tour group we encountered caused trouble. When I was graduating from junior high back in 2001 part of my senior class went to Orlando for a week. We were a large group of young kids and we were all extremely courteous and kind. No one had any problems with us because we didn't cause problems.

Now let's jump to the summer of 2005. My mom, dad, brother and I were on line for Dudley Do-Right at Islands of Adventure and there was a huge Brazilian tour group behind us. They were chanting and chanting and chanting louder and louder and lauder. Some of you may not know, but half of the line for Dudley Do-Right is indoors and in a small, narrow hallway. The chanting just echoed through the entire attraction. But you can't really complain about the chanting. However, there were two girls behind us who were around fifteen. They were literally on top of me the ENTIRE time. I mean directly on top of me, touching my back. They just stood there with the front of their bodies up against the back of mine, and kept touching my hair. It was literally insane! I turned around and nicely asked them to move back several times, and each time they would look at me with a blank stare before moving on top of me again. How much tolerance could you possibly have?! I HEARD them speaking English, yet when I spoke to them they pretended not to. I eventually SCREAMED at them to get away from me and they STILL didn't listen. So I had my brother playfully push into me so I would go falling backwards and I pushed a big group of them back. :rotfl: How inconsiderate, disruptive and disrespectful could these kids possibly be?! Their chaperones did NOTHING and just didn't care.

Americans get a bad rap as being "ugly Americans" for not taking other cultures into consideration when traveling. I've never seen that to be the case, though. THESE kids are the "ugly" ones. I don't care if they get away with this crap in Brazil, but don't you dare touch me, regardless of who you are or where you're from. :scared:

We went last year from October 4 - 9 and ran into Brazilian Tour groups at Epcot and MGM. BUT they were well behaved. In fact, until I pointed them out to DH they were almost unnoticeable. The kids I saw were very well organized and under the control of chaperones in smaller groups, maybe 25 - 30 or so. There was no chanting and singing thank goodness. I was truly prepared for the worst and it didn't happen with the groups we encountered.

Here's some pictures I took last October:

Do the large chanting groups go to the Extra Magic Hours. We were hoping to avoid some of the summer crowds and heat by spending time at the parks during these.

We'll be there Tuesday and now I'm starting to dread dealing with these people. We've encountered them in early July. I thought they would be gone by late July. here's hoping so!!!

Anyway, we're staying at the Beach Club so hopefully they won't be able to afford to stay there and we can at least escape them when we are back at our resort. Has anyone seen these groups at the deluxe resorts ever???? I would think they would absolutely flock to the Value or maybe moderates given the fact that they are young. What do ya'll think?

Wow, wow, wow :scratchin

Not sure what "wow wow wow" meant but I just want to say that I don't care if they are blue, green, yellow, white, black, or pink. I just don't like disrespectful behavior. And these groups can be downright obnoxious, rude and disrespectful. I've run into these groups in the past and some are fine, unnoticeable even if not for the t-shirts. But, I've also been in the middle of a big "brawl" so to speak waiting for Illuminations. It was borderline scary.

I do know they are very young and probably won't be at the deluxe resorts...which makes me happy. My post was not meant to be snobbish....but younger people usually don't stay deluxe. Which, again, makes me happy.

It certainly won't ruin our trip and I won't be looking for trouble...but if I seem them coming, I'm headed the other way.

lol Just reminded my parents of the groups....

And they are now feeling that July again might not be the best....

Maybe we could try end of July beginning of August :)

The groups I saw over the fourth were basically what I would title "Inconsiderate". Screaming and yelling in places where it's uncalled for.

I understand you are there to enjoy yourself but they completely rule out respect for others in their quest for a good time.

If you want, say something to them if you need to vent.......from my experience.......they dont understand a single word you're saying.

If it was a group of say single 20-25 year old brazilian females wearing the bike shorts and tight tops I'd go every year in July!

If they dont understand about lines, and they dont understand about being courteous..then what the heck do they think everyone else is doing standing in a line?

If these travel agencies dont give out guidelines of behavior here if its so different then there (are they not civilized or something the way people make it sound?) then there is something wrong there

You dont go to another country and not know the rules and how people do things and you sure dont act obnoxious. My middle school daughter and her school went to Wash DC in April and you can be sure that they were not allowed to act disrepectful at all

I saw them, but they didn't bother me at all. :confused3

us either. FWIW dh was in Brazil for business a few weeks before we were at Disney and he had to follow his own flag tour...it is what they do.

None were rude or disrespectful when we were in Disney just last week at least from being at the park the same time as all of them.

I don't care what kind of tour groups are there in July. They are there. All I know is DH and I went to WDW in 1984 in July and we will never go in July again. Because of the tour groups........whoever they may be.:sad2:
