Is Boma worth $50 for a dinner buffet?

We are a group of four adults going in April. As a fair warning, none of us have had great experiences with buffets. We have often found that food quality is lower when made for buffet service. However, we would love to branch out to try the different options like African cuisine at Boma. Our taste palette/spice preferences tend to lean more towards asian foods than american cuisine, and we love trying out fun new dishes (particularly shareable plates). The price for dinner, however, seems a little steep - for those who have been (particularly those who have been recently), is it worth the price?

I find it one of if not the best Buffets there,... especially for Adults. Its called Flavors of Africa for a reason. Most people dont truly get that becuase they think there getting what you get at the other buffets on property. Variety is the spice of life. I say try it for yourself and see. I dont go by reviews (be it posted or video as above). find there review and what i experince and get is complete 180 degree difference most times.

Boma is our favorite Disney restaurant. But, we ate there two weeks ago and although the food was good, there is now less variety than before the pandemic and definitely not worth the cost. If cost is not an issue, definitely give it a try though.

We were there in November and felt it was a good value in terms of variety and quality. If buffets aren't your preference, you could try Sanaa and order a few different appetizers/ entrees to share. Disney is very accommodating and will bring additional plates or split entrees in the kitchen, if you ask

ETA- value in comparison to other Disney dining

It is my favorite restaurant on property. It is one place that you can get something with some actual flavor that is not just salt. I don't think any of the buffets are worth $50, but it is Disney so everything is more expensive. I love that they have an open kitchen and that I can see how they handle the food. As someone who has worked in food for a long time, I can say that they handle things properly and that the kitchen is extremely clean. And that makes a difference to me. Here is another recent review. For those who do not know who Mikey Chen(Strictly dumpling) is, he travels the world eating food. He has a million and a half followers and he is fair in his assessments.

I totally agree.

You won't know if it's worth it to you until you try it.

For us, it was (and is) a good buffet.

We go to Boma every year and love it. Offerings are a bit less than pre-covid, but we love the uniqueness of the food and experience. Make it a point to go early and explore the lobby and savannah. I'd vote YES!

Worth is very subjective....
So true. It is also relative... relative to what everything else costs at WDW.

Boma is the only buffet we frequent and we love the food. $50 is painful but you are on vacation and you have already mortgaged the house for your Disney trip, so $200 for 4 amortized over the life a mortgage isn't that much. :)

Its our favorite place to eat at WDW!
We havent been since before the pandemic so cant speak to that...But, the soups are amazing! Roasted meats, great salads. Desserts are small portions of a wide variety of treats. The Zebra Domes are famous!
Buffets aren't ever cheap. At Boma, don't skip the soups and take your time! They won't rush you and since the soups can be filling you'll have to stay awhile to make it "worth it" :)
Wishing I was there now!

Has always been our go-to restaurant. Haven't been back since reopening, though. I do have a friend who is a steak and potatoes person, so she didn't care for the spices

since reopening do they offer any discounts? DVC, Disney visa, AP??

I believe they offer the DVC discount as I remember using it. As a matter of fact I was surprised at how many locations accepted it. I even used it at the Confectionery in Main Street.

I know they still give the Disney VISA discount. I used it the day after re-opening and DD used it on her honeymoon in November.
We love Boma, and I was really pleased with the quality and variety when I was there in August. Is it worth it? WE think so. $50 for an adult for dinner at Disney isn't really outrageous. Look at the other restaurant menus. What will it cost for an appetizer, entree, dessert and a beverage? Sure, with a party of 4 you might share 2 apps and 2 desserts, but everyone is going to get their own entree (usually) and most people get an iced tea or soda. When you think of it this way, it's not as outrageously priced as it seems.

Fun experience. Not a typical buffet. Great selections of foods you can't usually find at WDW along with some "normal" choices for those who want the standards

It's good food and better quality than many Disney buffets. As others mentioned there are some unique items. It's still a buffet though and not the same quality as most signature restaurants. $50 is expensive, but it isn't over-the-top expensive for what you get when you take into account Disney prices.

I just wanted to emphasize what others have suggested. It is not a typical "all you can eat" buffet. It's about the variety of unique flavors that you get to try. I hate AYCE buffets; both from a quality and quantity standpoint. Boma is the ONLY "buffet" I will eat at (at Disney or anywhere). I think of it as unlimited Tapas. We get small plates of a variety of flavors. We get to sample a range of dishes we would otherwise not order or be afraid to try.
If the price is too much, I suggest you try Sanana. Get the bread service and share an app or entrée or two.
