Is BoG worth to money?

I have to admit, we've never been overly impressed with most of the restaurants at WDW. Don't get me wrong - we absolutely LOVE WDW. But for the most part, we feel like most of the food is good, not great, and prices are high. For that reason, we usually eat breakfast before we head to the parks and usually eat lunch back at our DVC place. However, we do like to eat out for dinner and usually feel we can splurge on that.

All that being said, please tell me your opinions on the food, the service, the atmosphere. I am also reading reviews on this site and others, but I'd really like to know what YOU think!:flower:

Thanks!

I've gone twice for dinner and had a very good meal both times. I grew up on a farm in the Midwest so I love a good pork chop and the one I got at BOG was one of the best I've ever had. I was pleasantly surprised because of all the negative reviews. Maybe I just got lucky with my choices and the chef. I loved the atmosphere and watching Beast walk through the grand ballroom on his way to his library.

As with any restaurant anywhere, some people will love it, some will hate it, some will find it so so. The only way to truly decide if it's worth the money is to check it out for yourself. I'd go in with the idea that you're paying mostly for the ambiance so if the good is mediocre at least you've had dinner in Beast's castle. :flower1:

I don't think the breakfast is worth the money. Dinner is ok. If you really just want to see the inside of the castle, I would do lunch. Food is good and it's more affordable than the other two meals.

I do BOG for breakfast, really just to see the inside of the castle. and I just order a coffee... As a solo diner, I don't even take up a table. I don't even sit down. I grab my coffee and wander the castle. Not sure if that's allowed, but... I've never had the food. I know you're asking about dinner, but from a breakfast standpoint, seeing the food, it looks like about the same level as Eat N Park or any other kind of "family" low key restaurant.

We ate there not long after it opened during the lunch 'reservation' trials.

I thought the food was good.

My mom got the Braised Pork (moist, falling apart, tender and well seasoned) and I got the Croque Monsieur (toasty crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside). Both were really tasty and well made.

I'm not going to lie, I don't get the hype about the Master's (grey stuff) cupcake. Our other desert was either the triple chocolate cupcake or the éclair. I just remember that we thought the other desert tasted better. The caveat is that I am NOT a dessert fan and I'm generally happy with an Oreo or plain Sugar cookie over any fancy creations.

The atmosphere is done well and if you're a Beauty and Beast fan, I'd consider it a must do. At least once.

I usually detest questions that ask "is XYZ 'worth it' ". Whether or not I think a thing is of value is, or should be, completely irrelevant to anyone else. Like food preferences or your favorite color, restaurant likes and dislikes are highly individual.

Of course it's overpriced. All WDW restaurants are. I'll give them credit for attempting a more interesting menu than the other MK restaurants (although Skipper Canteen has stolen some of their thunder in that area). The dinners that we've had have been well prepared, so I would say that the food quality is adequate. Service was courteous and timely. We enjoy the decor of both the ballroom and the west wing. Yes, the ballroom can be a bit noisy. Any room of similar size would be too. But hey, it's a ballroom, so you can't expect small and intimate. And then of course, there's the opportunity for a glass of 2 of wine with your dinner. After a day of enduring the MK crowds, this option makes dinner at BOG completely "worth it" to us.

If you are using a dining credit, lunch or breakfast are absolutely worth the money.

We paid dinner out of pocket their and I was the only one (out of 8 adults and 10 kids) who did not think it was worth the money. All per preference and your own expectations.

For us it was. We ate there for lunch and dinner. DD and I preferred the food at lunch, but the atmosphere at dinner felt like an event. It was lovely. DH loved both meals. Service at dinner was the best we had our whole trip. My family has requested I try to get two lunch reservations and either one or two dinner reservations depending on what happens with the dining plan credits for 2017. If you aren't a castle fan or a Beauty and the Beast fan, you might prefer Chefs de France. The food there was better, I thought, though the atmosphere isn't nearly as enchanting. In case it matters, vegetarians will find more variety at BOG. And, if you are a wine drinker, BOG has some exclusive wines. I tried one (wish I could remember which) and loved it.

We enjoyed both our breakfast and dinner we had at BOG. We used dining credits for both but I would definitely pay OOP for dinner. I had the steak and it was perfectly cooked. I would pay OOP for breakfast only if it was another pre park opening ADR. I don't like to waste park time eating breakfast but we loved getting into the park before it opened!

We have dined at BOG 3 times. Twice for pre-opening breakfast and once for lunch. I say BOG is worth it if you want beat the rope drop (not a given) or to see the interior (though there are pictures online). There are better tasting or cheaper meals elsewhere, but I have never been disappointed with the food other than the grey stuff (not delicious). My recommendation is to go once and if you can go for lunch. You get to sit in the air conditioning for a bit.

My husband and I went there for the first time last year. We had the braised pork and it was excellent. The grey stuff was okay, but not as much as it is hyped up to be, IMO. It was still good. We were in the room with Beauty and the Beast dancing on a roundabout in the center of the room. The server was excellent and kept in character all the time. It was fun to get our meal brought to us after they found where we were.

I don't understand all the negative reports either. Loved the Castle; the other rooms were fantastic, and the food was very good. Prices were the same to us as elsewhere.

Had dinner there in May with family. Everyone loved it. One of the best meals of trip.

We went once for dinner because I really wanted to experience the place. I am totally glad that we did and I think it was worth doing that one time. That said, it isn't something I would do again. The meal certainly isn't worth the price but that's not really the point. You're paying for the experience and the atmosphere which is top-notch. I just don't feel the need to ever pay for it again.

So my vote is to do it once, understanding that it's overpriced just in terms of the food but that for that money, you also get to tour the inside of the restaurant and there's no other way to do that besides actually eating there. It's worth it for that reason alone. And the food certainly isn't bad but it's nothing special for what they charge. If we want a really nice meal, there are plenty of places in the area to get something as good or better for less money.

i have only eaten lunch there but5 i can tell you that its well worth the money for lunch in my opinion.
dinner idk and breakfast in my opjnion not at all worth the money.
so i would suggest that you go for lunch.
i find the roast beef sandwich to be one of the best foods i've eaten at WDW and the strawberry cream cheese cupcake is literally the best dessert i've ever eaten at WDW.
lunch is the best of both worlds in my opinion.

We loved it the atmosphere was fantastic and the food was great as was the service we have no complaints. We have 2 reservations for this Fall and we can't wait.

My thoughts exactly. Lunch for us was a disaster. I went to dinner 3 times, but that is because I love a good glass of wine with dinner and I have to leave the park for that. If it weren't for the wine, once would have been enough but the atmosphere is unique and beautiful. The food is OK (one bad steak). The French onion soup is quite good.

My one pet peeve is they turn the tables very quickly. So quickly, we order apps, then order dinner which would be my advice. The first time, they put our apps down and one bite later there is our entree's. The food comes out so quick, it feels like a cafeteria where the food is already made in the back and not fresh to order.
