Is Boatwrights good ?

We will be staying at POR and want to do the carriage ride after dinner, I thought that Boatwrights would be good for dinner (because of convenience)
Is the food good or at least okay? I read it wasn't good at all!

It's been a long time since I ate there but I remember it being one of our better meals. I think we had some sort of chicken. We stayed there in 2000, and alot has probably changed.

We ate there on our April 06 trip since we were staying at POR. I had the Filet Mignon & Milkshake. It was obviously very good since I can remember exactly what I ate.

Had a steak of some kind there a few years back and it was very good. Also wasn't too crowded which was nice. Good server if I remember correctly. It has been quite a while though.

We did exactly this last year. Had dinner at Boatwrights then enjoyed the Carriage ride. Both worth it. I can almost taste that Jambalaya and Cornbread, now.

I've never been there for dinner, but I now have a tradition of going there for breakfast every trip regardless of whether not we stay at POR. The French Toast, imho, is unbeatable.

We had breakfast at Boatwrights on 3/24 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great food but the mimosas were rather small.

Our first meal at Boatwright's in 2005 was fabulous! Went back last April and we were disapointed. They took the best dessert - the brownie barge - off the menu, ribs were gone too! My steak was just so-so. I think there's a lot better choices at WDW than Boatwright's

we ate there the last meal of our trip a few years back. we were on the dining plan, so we had eaten at some very upscale places (LeCelier for example) during that trip.....we considered Boatwright's to be our best meal of that trip by far. the pot roast was the best i have ever had outside of my mom's. (that includes my own and my mother-in-laws )

We ate there the last night of our trip last year and it was by far the worse meal we have ever had at Disney. We did not get seated until 40 minutes after our ADR time; our server never smiled once and said nothing more than she had to say--so, service in general, was terrible. The appetizers were fair--I don't remember what my DH had--probably a salad, and I had the shrimp--all two of them! The prime rib was absolutely horrible--no flavor, fatty and warm at best--not hot. My DH hated the potatos. I can't recall what we had for dessert--so it obviously did not impress us. It was so noisy that you couldn't even hear yourself think, let alone the person sitting directly across the table from you talking. We will never go back for dinner again, although we are willing to try it for breakfast.

My DH and I ate there twice during one trip so we must have really liked it! It was 3 years ago and I remember that he got steak and I got chicken and we LOVED the garlic mashed potatoes.

in dec 2007 we ate there several times. we thought it was good. being fron n.o. la. could be the reason that we enjoyed it.

I've read a lot of mixed reviews of Boatwrights as well, but since I am staying at POR for 9 days this Sept, I think it would be silly not to try the restaurant at least once. Plenty of people on here have enjoyed it. Why don't you at least give it a try and decide for yourself. Your plan sounds great; I might actually do that myself!
