Is BCV that bad?

As a general statement, DVC is not about great views - there will be some spectaular views at BLT (and you'll pay for them in points), and of course the Savannah views at VAKL, and the Boardwalk view at the BWV. In all cases these are bookable rooms, you know when you book that you are going for view.

SSR has some units that have a nice view of DTD - I've never found that to be worth looking at myself, but there are plenty of people who like that view.

BCV has a few where you can see Epcot, but they aren't really "Epcot Views"

I like looking at the trees at VWL, but they are trees. And there are nice views of the golf course at OKW, but its a golf course.

Almost all resorts have something similar to VWL famed "dumpster view" - a room that faces something where you may choose to keep the drapes closed. The roof is popular. There are a few units at BWV that apparently look into other rooms! Roads and buildings and parking lots are often seen out DVC windows.

If you want to be assured you are looking at something nice, pick a home resort with a bookable view and book early. But view is not important to everyone - other people will value the quality of the pool, the size of the rooms, the location, the theme, the memories they've made there in the past, low dues .....

This is spot on IMO. :thumbsup2

When we get the dumpster view, I look up and see woodpeckers...really, it's not terrible!

At BCV we loved the view by the canal, of the actual BC itself. I've enjoyed a patio on the first floor 1/2 down the building from the road, where there were enough bushes, trees to muffle the sound. I wouldn't be particularly happy with the first villas off the road, but we've been pretty close. We like it enough that we bought points there.:goodvibes

Bobbi:)

I'm not a fan of SAB, but we still thought BCV was a lovely resort -- very, very pretty. And it's hard to beat the location. We were on the first floor (Villa 137, I think) with a "woods view."

To be honest, I don't worry much about views -- if I get a good one, fine. If not, as someone already posted, how many minutes (or seconds) am I going to spend looking at the view? Not many for our family.

I was actually excited when we got the VWL Dumpster view :rotfl2:

It's actually an inside joke with me and DH. We got it on our last trip and we did a mock celebration that we got the dumpster view!

Truly, it wasn't bad. I didn't hear any noise or smell anything funny. We barely looked out the window.

The nice thing about that side of the Villas is that there's a little "yard" out there. The boys in the villa next to us went out and tossed a ball occasionally. I thought that was sweet.

Here's a view I had one time at BCV:

If you look closely behind the trees is a road.

Now, if you ask me who goes to WDW for the views. It isn't like let's say Hawaii where you gonna spend the evening sitting on your balcony watching the sunset. Just not something I envision doing in Orlando so, the view isn't as important to me but I do find most of the views at most DVC resorts are pleasant.

LOVED BCV last summer. We had the quiet pool view. Loved everything about our stay. We are staying again this summer for a week. I can't wait. My kids absolutely loved SAB and so did we. It is like the most perfect place for a summer trip to WDW. I could see this becoming a summer tradition.

Agreed, we like it for spring break as well and have started spending time on the beach watching the boats and BW lake. We often walk over to EPCOT around 10AM (after a late night out), have everyone walk in the gate and then head back out and to the beach. One of us then goes and gets a FP for everyone either at TT or Soarin for later that day/evening. Then we come back that night for a no wait attraction, dinner and Illuminations-then walk back to our room in about 5 minutes from the France bridge.

We've only stayed once, but it wasn't for the view, it was for SAB. We were not disappointed, and we had a parking lot view.

Rob, good to see you back, even if it is just for a quick visit. Hope everything is going great for you!!

I'll be at BCV in 8 days (staying at CR for the weekend). It will be our first visit and we'll be deciding on whether we'll be doing an add-on here or BWV sometime later in 2009.

This thread is dangerous! It's giving me add-on-itis and I haven't even stayed at AK yet lol.
Just curious, is it ever possible to get a reservation at BWV or BCV at the 7 month mark?

Well my DH and I are total view people....thats why we bought at BWV, BLT, and Vero Beach. We don't do the parks commando......we are rather wine and cheese people (can we say F&W Festival!) and do love a view from our balcony. To each his own!:coffee:

I'm sorry I didn't mean to imply that everyone doesn't go to WDW for views. I should have said that I don't. For some reason I can't relax at Disney so, I go for different views. And, trust me I'm all about views... This my type of a view:

Unfortunately, I own at BCV which doesn't have view categories. I just don't think they are as bad as people make them out to be... To each his own!:coffee:

The one and only time I stayed at BCV I had a view of the trees and a service road. I was fine with it. I got to see fireworks from my balcony, and I enjoyed a nice foot treatment from the sandy bottom of SAB! :rotfl2: Hopefully an add-on to BCV will happen at one point for us, just not now. :goodvibes

I was able to get a studio at BCV for 5/30 - 6/4 about a month ago. What's that . . . less than 6 months out. Actually, I was shocked. :goodvibes

My standard views at BWV have been much better than any view that I ever had from CRO. JMHO.

The pictures of the views from BCV is also much better than anything that I had through CRO.

We used to stay at the Contemporary with the MK view in the South Garden Wing. That is actually a beautiful view of the parking lot. On our last non-DVC trip, we paid extra for the side of a tree at WL. :sad2:

Now that's what I'm talkin about!:thumbsup2

We don't go to WDW for the view. We really aren't in the room that much anyway except to sleep. If we wanted to hang out on the terrace and watch the view, we might be disappointed in BCV.
We love the resort however. The location is great and there's also SAB. The resort is very picturesque, it's just not necessarily so from your room.

ITA - I am a view girl. It does not have to be a view of Disney - but I don't want to look at a road or parking lot. The balcony is my favorite spot - I don't watch television, so if I'm in the room, I'm on the balcony with a book.

We were on the ground floor at BCV and faced a nicely landsaped courtyard - but we could hear the service road and I'm sure higher level rooms saw it.
I was happy with my view. SSR has lots of nice golf course views - and OKW as canal views that are lovely. BWV has wonderful views and nothing beats the OVIR at VB or the savanna rooms at AKV.
