Is ARES a safe place to purchase tickets?

Safe as in will you send them money and get tickets that are usable. Yes.

Safe as in your general safety, no. I find them personally unethical to do business with.

Yep, I've bought PHs & character meal vouchers from ARES in the past and would do so again.

I have used ARES for the last two trips and didn't have any problems. I am curious also about skiingfast's comment though.

Used them numerous times in the past and will most likely use them again in the future. They are reputable and a safe place to purchase from. mousesavers.com highly recommends them as well.

Ski, unethical? You might want to back up that statement with some facts.

If you are serious, explain please.

I don't want to start a political argument. So I'm leaving my personal thought on to why, off the thread. Sorry.

I would think since mousesavers recommends them, that they are fine, I am unsure why skiingfast thinks they are unethical, so I cannot respond to that.

The ones that are unethical are those on ebay/craigslist that buy unused days on used multiday passes to resale the remaining days and/or upgrade the passes. Now that Disney is printing names on multi-day tickets, I would imagine that this practice will be reduced.

Places like ARES that are officially authorized by Disney to sell tickets are fine.

Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up buying an AAA website today. (There was a bit on our local news last night about a lady selling fake DL tickets on craigslist. I knew not to buy there!)

'Unethical' and 'general safety' are pretty strong terms to use on a forum about a business. One would think that it could be damaging to the business (ARES), and it's surprising, Skiingfast, that you wouldn't feel the need to back that statement up with additional comments.

Many DISers have purchased parkhoppers through ARES and yes, Mousesavers recommends them and that is a pretty good group to vouch for ARES. I would trust them for sure. :goodvibes

Then why post your comment at all?

Exactly. Don't understand the need to post cryptic negative comments about a business and then refuse to back them up. Why stir the pot?

I have ordered from them in the past without issue and have again just yesterday. My only complaint is that you get a voucher that has to be taken to the window in the Disney courtyard to get your ticket. Since we are arriving midday, I expect the line to be short, so not a huge hassle.

I just puchased at ARES yesterday to get the old prices. Should I be concerned that I've put my and my childrens' "general safety" at risk?????

If so, and one has knowledge of this, then the only ethical thing to do would be to warn me and others.

Yup - saw this in the paper/on local news, too. Never buy via Craiglist.

DS bought Saturday evening on ARES to avoid the price hike for his Dec. trip. No problem, and he doesn't anticipate any problems using it.
