Is anyone on the Dream right now? How did a girl fall overboard?

I'm not defending the mother, but a lot of you don't seem to have the facts straight.
Possibly. I haven’t seen the official report. But the NY Post article shared yesterday states:
"The mom later told officers she had taken several other photos of her daughter on the ship’s railings during the trip."
So we aren’t making that assumption without reason.

The New York Post is a joke most of time. You can find the article on Fox with the full 12 page police report. The police report does not say that and I doubt the mom did an interview with the New York post.

I am shocked to see so many people on here supporting the mother about not getting consequences. Some even think the mother should get a payout from Disney! It's my opinion that the mother should be prosecuted and it's a mistake not to do so. It does not matter if it bankrupts the family like some people posted. I literally have had to go to court over Jay Walking tickets and No Helmet tickets on my bicycle when I was younger. I've gone to court for many things that are dumb like this, but I needed to face consequences for my actions.

If my wife told our child to go on the railing (like the mother admitted to the police), and our kid fell into the water, I would EXPECT to be banned from all Disney property for life. I would except to get my DVC revoked too. I would expect the ban to be for me and anyone in my party.

It says other portholes and windows which we know most of those have plexi glass. She showed officer a picture of her daughter laying in a porthole with plexi glass on it.

And all of the portholes you can lay in CLEARLY have a bench to sit/lay on. NOT a railing. That in and of itself should have given the mother pause about telling her daughter to get up there.

Maybe I was overly precocious, but I strongly suspect that even if my mother had said "Get up there" and I saw/felt there wasn't a covering I would have said something - even like that it feels different than the others. So to me the fact that the girl did it, the implication is that wasn't the first time a railing had been used as a prop.

When we go on a cruise, it's me, my wife, my 2 kids (4 and 9) and my mother in law. My 4 year old son is kinda wild, so we do not get a room with a varandah. It's not worth him trying to climb it. My wife and I know our son can be a little adventurous and it's up to us to handle him.

She couldn't tell there wasn't plexi-glass there? On an open deck? I don't believe her. I do believe she has an attorney that is advising her on what to say. I do wish they would go after her criminally, but I guess I get why they are not. Not sure how many jury's will convict a mother of a criminal act in this case . Lots of opinions and public opinion, on both sides. Lot's of drama. Best we can hope for is a child welfare agency will follow this mother and child for years to come. And help this mother to make better decisions when it comes to her child's welfare.

Maybe share the Fox article if it’s so different. The only one I’ve seen here this week is the NYP from post #246. I don’t go researching other news reports, I discuss what is shared.

Child Welfare Agency or Child Protective Services (CPS) is unlikely to do anything at all. I have personally made over 50+ calls to CPS because the children next door to me were being neglected and abused. I had photos of the small children playing with knives, playing in storms outside, sitting outside of stores by themselves and it took CPS 18 months to get the children out of that situation.

My neighbors also called CPS a lot. In total, over 100 reports and that's what it took to get the children moved to a better environment. It's not just 1 instance that gets the kids removed or the parents investigated. Trust me on this one.
