Is anyone getting the 50th Anniversary coffee table book?

Barnes & Noble site said my closest store had copies, so I stopped by yesterday afternoon and inquired. They were sold out. Asked them to order it for me - was told it would arrive in a couple days.

Cancelled the Amazon order.

Trying to buy it for my GFs Xmas present.

Book supply chains are pretty delayed right now, so it's not just this book - I've got another one preordered through Amazon that hasn't shipped yet. A friend of mine has seen that indie bookstores are claiming that if you're planning on getting books as gifts for the holidays then you need to order them soon or you might not receive them in time. No idea if that's an over exaggeration or not.

The Amazon page for the book now says "Usually ships within 3 to 5 weeks" so that's something. It's not showing as in stock at any B&N near me, but I don't mind waiting a few weeks for my Amazon order since the preorder price for me is less than $40

I'm also seeing this. I've had several books pre-ordered over the past year or so that were delayed by either a few weeks, to several months.

Sooooo... to follow up on this. THE BOOK EXISTS AND I HAVE IT!!!! 😂

Never received a call from the store. Happened to check B&N site Wednesday afternoon and saw a slightly further away B&N had it in stock. Did the online order, pickup at store thing. Picked it up Wednesday evening.

Called the store mentioned in my Sep 30 post a few minutes ago to cancel. They said the distributor cancelled it a while ago. Wonder if they were ever going to bother to call me about that? 🙄

(No, I have not looked through it. Like I said in my OP, Xmas present. I may still take a peek at some point. ;))

I was with that wave of Amazon preorders that got delayed. My delivery date went from September 28 to October 14 or 15. Whatever day it was supposed to be, I got a day-of email that was like just kidding, delivery is now end of November. I would have canceled and ordered from B&N then, but it was sold out there so I decided to just hold out for Amazon. Last week it updated to this past Tuesday, and it finally arrived! 😁

I ordered this book from shopDisney last week when it came back in stock on the website. It was delivered yesterday. I've only thumbed through it a little bit, but it has a lot of cool concept art and photos.

I love how this is $1 more than list price on Shop Disney. :sad2:
Anyway, for those that have - is it worth putting on my list for Santa?
(Or to put this in Disney+ terms, is this an Imagineering Story or a Behind the Attraction?)

I was at WDW last week, did not see it at the parks and asked at World of Disney at Disney Springs and the cast member said she hadn't seen it there (but she wasn't sure if it was there earlier and had gone out of stock). I did order it from Barnes and Nobles and it was delivered yesterday. I just thumbed through it, looks very neat, has some nice pictures there in it. For those who are on the fence, there is a youtube video where someone goes opens it up on camera and looks through the different sections and reviews it, so that might help with your decision.

I had never gotten anything from Amazon about the delay but luckily saw on this message board there was an issue. A few days ago I saw no update on the Amazon website so decided to check the Barnes and Noble website and my store does not have it but was able to order online and is supposed to come early next week. I then cancelled on Amazon.

I was there the week of October 1st - they didn't have it at World of Disney, but they did have it at Art of Disney at Disney Springs.

(That's not to say that they have it there now, but that'd be the first place I'd look if I were at Disney Springs.)

With an AP discount, it was cheaper than Amazon.

To be completely and bluntly honest - I've got a lot of Disney books, and it's... okay. It's kind of a by-the-numbers history of the resort, so if you already know a lot of the history, there aren't that many surprises. (I described it to someone as a coffee table brochure.)

After the chapters about the original development of the park, they made a strange decision to break up the rest of the story into "themes" rather than telling it chronologically, and it jumps around in time - it doesn't really work for me. (They're eager to highlight some of the future development in the midst of that, too.)

I also can't wrap my head around the artistic decision to put the monorail behind the castle on the cover. It's a lovely drawing - reminiscent of some of the classic drawings of the castle - but that just breaks my brain. :D

If you don't have any other books about WDW, it's not bad. If you've got either of the Imagineering books (especially the first) and/or books like the Art of Walt Disney World, you'll probably wish there was more unique stuff in it.

Fwiw, I pre- ordered from Amazon and never got it-- they just canceled the order. Was so mad because of what the above poster said-- not available not except resale.

I just bought a copy for $60 American on Amazon.ca. It’s available there.

they will only ship to Canada addresses. Luckily I live in a border town, and will head over to Canada to pick it up in the Amazon Locker when it gets there. Thrilled to read it
