Is anyone else missing mail, bills, etc?; UPDATE

DH's birthday was the 26th of Dec. and he still hasn't received the birthday card his mom mailed him on the 21st. We were paying bills on line on New Years Eve and realized that two of our credit card statements (that are due soon) have not arrived. When my husband called Citibank to get the amount of one, the lady on the phone said that we were about the 500th call to report a missing bill.

When you pay your bills this month, make sure you look at a list of what you normally pay, in case one or more hasn't arrived yet.

When this has happened to us it has been because the mail carrier make a mistake and delivered to the wrong house.

Actually I've had the exact opposite experience. I didn't get my Christmas cards in the mail until the 22nd at 2:00pm. Many people on my list got their cards THE NEXT DAY! Had a friend mail me a card from Philadelphia on the 22nd. I got it on the 24th. I've been amazed at the service USPS has provided this holiday season.

And, yes, unfortunately I've received all my bills.

I always have missing mail! I swear there is a problem with my post office! I no longer mail anything out of my local branch. I had too many CC pymts not show up. I now do most of my pymts on-line or in person. I don't depend on statements to make the pymts, I just check the dates on the credit card websites. With holidays and weekends I don't want to take chances, especially since they no longer gove those grace periods. Now if you are even 1 day late you get socked with an almost 40.00 late charge.

Our car lease statement comes the 4th of the month and it is due the 11th of the month. U.S. Bank tells me they mail them out the 1st of the month. Anyways, I have to turn around and make the payment, so it gets there by the 11th of the month. I saw on my check statement that my last payment was processed on the 18th. If I want to make my payment by phone or over the internet, they charge me an extra $7.50. The Gas and electric bill charge extra too. So much for friendly service.

No missing mail here. I pay both my cc's online on their websites, and all the others by my banks online bill pay. So even if I didn't get a statement, I could just call and get the balance due and send the payment electronicly. I couldn't tell you the last time I wrote out a check!

We had a CC statement and the statement from DH's car loan missing in November. I realized the Honda statement never came, so I called and got the address to mail it in. Fine. We pay the CC over the internet, so no big deal.

Several weeks later we get the December Honda statement, so I stick it in the slot with the other bills. A few days later here comes ANOTHER Honda statement. I pull out the first one and see that it is the missing November statement - it took a MONTH for them to deliver it! It wasn't damaged or anything. Weird.

If the credit card company actually has had about 500 pieces go missing, then it sounds like either, their carrier dumped them somewhere, or they are sitting in some supposedly empty equipment. Unfortunately, that can happen. Especially if somebody was trying to help another person out, and accidentally got too helpful putting stuff, i.e. empty equipment up. Of course we won't know about it until someone does complain! Help us out, do complain when that many come up missing!

Yep - I'm missing both a package mailed from us, and a package mailed to us. Both Christmas presents, both sent in the second week of December. Merry Christmas!

up until recently we were always missing mail and stuff
we usualyy get mail now around 330 before this carrier we werent getting it til after 530 at night sometimes as late as 7pm
thats ridiculous
thank god we have a new carrier

I always try to pay as many bills online as possible. You can also look at your Credit Card statements online.

I stopped all paper statements on everything that let me do so .They say 90 some % of identity theft comes from the snail mail and your trash.I also shread anything that has my name on it.

Also a lot of the good tenured carriers take off this time of the year so the subs don't know the route or they will add it to the end of the next carrier and the times change really bad.

I'm missing my Toyota Finance bill for my minivan. It's due the 13th and usually here long before now. They charge me 6.95 to pay online, so I do that one the old fashioned way.

I never got a child support check last week. I get paid by the state and it's always right on time. Weird.

I've noticed packages are taking a lot longer than normal. I put it down to the holidays. Frustrating when it's something important.

Sounds like your regular carrier was off for the holidays and you got stuck with a lousy sub. I wonder how many more people on the route ended up in the same boat as you?

Sounds like a backup at the Post Office. Maybe a mail bin got misplaced? Anyway, at least you know it wasn't stolen!

It once took 18 days for an anniversary card myt MIL mailed from Iowa to get to us in South Dakota, and that was at the end of October, beginning of November!!

Last year I paid our cell phone bill in plenty of time before the deadline. (Yea, I still use checks, old-fashioned, I know.) Then I got a notice saying it wasn't paid...so I had to pay it again (ouch), figuring the original check was delayed in the mail. (I didn't want to pay a stop payment fee and then have the original check be submitted and then have bounced check fees...ack)

Took the original check over TWO weeks to get from Alexandria Va to BALTIMORE!!!
