Is anyone else getting excited for the Holiday Season?

I hate summer... I don't like how hot and humid it is. I don't like the sun beating down on me. I don't like the clothes.

so... BRING ON FALL!

I do need to start shopping for some fall decorations. I want to treat my mom and do the dining room table this year. My grandmother did it while she was here this summer... yea, it looks like the table my grandmother used to have in her house. Mom really wants to change it so I am going to buy the stuff to do it.

I LOVE summer, and HATE cold weather with a PASSION, but I am really really looking forward to the holidays!

I'm a holiday freak :banana:Fall is my favorite time of year:love:You should see the Yankee Candle fall scents I have already purchased :thumbsup2

However, Christmas is my favorite! Baking up a storm, cutting down the christmas tree, decorations, family and friends. Love, love, love it!

I've already started my shopping so that is a big plus:thumbsup2I tend to go WAY overboard shopping so it doesn't seem as bad when I start this early:lmao:

I always get excited for the holidays around October, right now all I'm focused on is my Disney trip. :goodvibes

I hated wishing the summer away, but I can't wait for fall and Christmas. My DH comes home from a 7 month deployment at the end of Sept and then we are spending Christmas in Hawaii. As far as I am concerned, August and September cannot move quickly enough.

I don't start thinking about Halloween until the leaves start to turn. I don't start thinking about Thanksgiving until after Halloween. I don't start thinking about Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

me, too ::yes::

I totally agree. I normally love summer, but DH gets home from deployment in October - so the sooner that gets here, the better. We're really going to enjoy the holidays together this year after spending most of the year apart.

The fall season is my favorite time of year, and Halloween is my favorite "holiday". We always go to WDW during Labor Day week and have even been to the MNSSHP during that week. We were disappointed that the party isn't scheduled at all that week this year, but we are still excited.

I haven't been real excited about Christmas because my birthday is Christmas Day, so it kind of gets lost in the shuffle, and last year we had this massive snow storm in the Northeast, the week of Christmas (we've never had one like this in the 11 years we've lived in our house), and it caused a flood from ice damns in the gutters, in our daughter's room and our garage; also a leaky roof in our bedroom and our living room. We woke up to this mess on Christmas Day! We've had repairs made this spring so hopefully there will be no issues this winter.

Even though I'll be in Disney this Christmas, I can't say I'm looking forward to the time period from Halloween - just before Christmas. Working retail pretty much squashes any pre-Christmas spirit I accumulate :rotfl:

Right now, I just don't want summer to end :beach:

That's wonderful!

I'm ready for Fall weather, falling leaves, scarecrows and other autumn decorations!

I think I'm going to change the "theme" of my Christmas tree this year so I'll be starting shopping early for new stuff. :thumbsup2

YES! But the holiday season also means I'm done with my undergrad portion of school! However I often get super distracted by the holidays and I want to be able to get school done without distraction.

They have started to change here (they actually start changing in July) and here is my proff. :teeth:

Rora, I love the holidays too. If we could just keep the warm weather (I hate the cold) year round it would be perfect.

Ask me again in a month and I'm sure I'll be excited. I do love the holidays. Right now I don't want summer to end! :goodvibes

I drove through the Poconos two weeks ago and noticed some change. It is too early for me.

I was thinking more about when I look outside and see this:

Middle to Late August always means two things to me..
1. Going back to school to teach my students
AND..
2. That the Holidays are right around the corner!

I can't tell you how excited I am for it to be Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas this year! Almost daily I'm thinking about when all the stores get their decorations out, the candy at Halloween, turkey stuffing, Christmas trees, etc. It's becoming a real problem!

Maybe I'm just crazy but it seems like the Holiday season can't come soon enough this year.

Emailing this to DH to show him someone is more insane than I am when it comes to the holidays.

My mom was born on Halloween (it should have been All Saints Day) so that's always been a different holiday for us. Thanksgiving is pretty laid back. But Christmas...every single aspect....is THE HOLIDAY.

Its not that I don't enjoy the actual days (family, fun and food) its all the pre-holiday prep that drives me nuts. I'd be happy setting up a table top tree on Christmas Eve and putting a star on top. Finished.

My mom has boxes and boxes and boxes of holiday decorations. We have no storage space in our place so the boxes are stored in my brother and SIL's basement - she has a transport plan, an unpack plan, and a decorating plan that involves 83% of the existing tinsel in the northern hemisphere - and all plans are set to holiday music. Each year I have one task - hanging one ornament. I do nothing else - well - I do pout if there are raisins in my stuffing.

So no, I normally don't care for the holiday season, but this year is different. This year I can't wait for Thanksgiving so I can thank the best mom in the world for all that she means to and does for me (like making special raisin-free stuffing). I'm surprising mom with a holiday Disney trip! :woohoo: We're going to do it all - tour the resorts, MVMCP, CP, shopping, Osbourne Lights, and Yuletide Tour. :yay:

Not this year. Most years, I love the holidays. This year is different. After I lost my beloved Griffin, I adopted two black lab puppies. Don't get me wrong. I love them, but they are so difficult. They are crazy dogs! They have destroyed most of my furniture in the one area of the house where they are allowed. I learned very quickly not to let them into other areas.

I love to decorate for Halloween and Christmas, but I don't dare do it this year. They would destroy everything. I hope by next year, they will have calmed down enough to allow me to seize control of my home again!

I realize that decorations are not what the holidays are about, but they have always been special to me.

I'm totally ready for Halloween. I'm craving pumpkin and candy corn!

I'm sooooo ready! Its been hitting 108 degrees here in Dallas the last two weeks and I'm done with summer! I love the whole holiday season.

Can't wait for "fall" (no real fall in Texas, but at least it won't be so hot), Halloween, Thanksgiving, AND we are going to WDW for our first time to see the Christmas decorations December 10th - 17th.

Lots to look forward to if we can just get past the horrible heat of August and September!!!
