Fellow DVC members, are any of you getting annoying Timeshare calls? I have been getting calls from at least 2 companies for the past month and it is beginning to annoy me. Since I am on the do not call list, I am confused as to why I am getting the calls.

I haven't rec'd anything except a few mailings about 2 years back.

Have you trade out into II?

I hope you don't have to put up with them too much longer. Here is some pixie dust:wizard:

Nope, I haven't traded at all. About the only possible connection besides my DVC ownership itself is that I am on the mail list for the board sponsor so that I can check for potential add-ons.

Yes, I've gotten a couple and several mailings as well since joining DVC in May. I figured at least they could let me enjoy my first stay before they start bugging me to sell!!!!! Somewhere along the line my DVC purchase information got out along with address and phone number.

oh - and I don't own any other timeshare and never have.

I've not receive except from Marriotts - but that's because I signed up for a tour in Vegas (bad idea btw)

I have gotten multiple calls per day from 407-722-3532, which according to an Internet phone call complaint site is for Hilton time shares. There is no one there, no messages are ever left, and the calls are placed at different times.

The numbers are coming into my cell phone, which is not on file with my time share ownership records. I am working to have the number blocked but haven't dotted all the i's and dotted all the t's yet.

It is <extremely> annoying as I too am on the do not call list as well.

I got calls from timeshares in Myrtle Beach all the time until I told them we would not be traveling there anytime in 2009 (I lied). That has stopped the calls. :yay:

I receive new listings from The Timeshare Store, have purchased through GMAC, and am on the DVC e-mail/mailings list. Other than the DVC mailings, and The Timeshare Store e-mails (which I requested), I have received no other solicitations.

If you purchased via resale, did you contact multiple companies? Could it be through TUG? Or possibly a contract you've added on/sold via a broker? A third party advertised through some of the other unofficial DVC sites (e.g. Dreams Unlimited Travel)? Just thinking out loud on if/how someone could have gotten your information. :confused3

Since deeded property is part of public record, some of these brokers could be getting creative, and pulling lists off of the comptroller's websites. I just did a search in Orange County for SSR sales between 1/1/08 - 12/31/08, and found 519 hits just on that property alone! I would think all of these folks would be prime candidates for both add-ons or sales.

In my case, all of my purchases have been through Disney and the only resale broker that I contacted was the board sponsor.

That's too bad. I know how annoying solicitation calls are. :headache: Hopefully, if you get your name on enough "do not call" lists, they'll stop bothering you.

Happy New Year. :goodvibes

I have been getting many phones calls lately to sell my timeshare and I am on the do not call list. I told them not to call back and I was on the do not call list. They didn't listen. I told one rep that yes, i am excited to sell and asked her to call me back in 2056!!! Then hung up!!!

We have been receiving them since we bought through Disney. I went to the National Do Not Call Registry and redid it and so far the calls have stopped for the last couple of weeks. Most of the calls were from Marriott in Florida.

Hmmm, you have an excellent suggestion here. Maybe I should re-do my do no call registration.

Hilton has been calling me & not leaving a message...I finally answered & they offered me 5 nights at the Hilton at DTD for $199 total- not per night! They said it was not a timeshare sales pitch but because I'm a Hilton Honors member. They said I wouldn't ever hear a timeshare talk...yeah & I'm in constant communication with the Pope.

Ask for all the caller's information, name of the indivudual, company they are representing. Tell them you are making note of the date/time of the call and will be reporting them to the FL Agriculture Secretary who is responsible for violations of the do not call list.

Your DVC purchase is a real estate transaction and is public information. Has nothing to do with DVC, timeshares are hurting and are increasing their push to sell. Since they know you bought one your high on the list, at least the calls asking me to vote for everything from dog catcher to Pope have stopped.

This would only apply if you are a FL resident and your number was on the states do not call list. If you number is on the national do not call list, complaints are handled by the FTC.

Just got a call for a timeshare in Cocoa Beach and we have never been to Cocoa Beach. It was a pretty good deal with 4 nights free, but I am tired of sitting through sales pitches so I told my DH no. So what does he tell the caller? "My wife siad no." Why can't he make a decision on his own? :cool2:
