Is anyone DEFINITELY going to Cedar Point on Sat., May 25th?

I'm glad to hear it, Barry! :)

Can you tell me about the $75 Breakers room, please? I don't plan to spend much time looking out my window, so I don't care about the dumpster view! They tore down the oldest sections of the Breakers (where they used to house employees like me!) to build the Breakers East, so anything has to be an improvement over those rooms!

When did they tear down the old building??? I think that we stayed there a couple of years ago when our company picnic was held at CP. The rooms were small and the building was old, but the beds were nice and the room was clean. I think we must have had the same dumpster view. We saw the restaurant employees go outside for a smoke break. I guess we didn't pay for the preferred view.

You can't beat the Breakers for convenience. We went back to our room a couple of times during the day (once after getting completely drenched on a water ride). I wonder if I can convince DW to spend Friday night at the Breakers so that we'll be up bright an early Saturday morning to make the mad dash to the Millennium Force. Of course, we tried that last time only to find out the the MF had been fried by lightning the night before. Yikes!!!

John, the $75 rooms have only 1 queen bed! If you want a room with 2 beds, those start at $140! :(

The old sections of the Breakers that were used as dorms were to the east of the Rotunda section of the hotel. The rooms were very tiny, with a sink in the corner and bathroom/showers down the hall.

The room I had last year overlooked the employees smoking during their breaks. It wasn't the Portifino for sure! It did put me in a good spot for Millenium Force.

***** CEDAR POINT NEWSFLASH *****

We are apparently on the CP mailing list. We just got a newsletter in today's mail. The most exciting news is that if you are staying at one of the CP resorts, you get EARLY ENTRY into the park!!! I know that Millennium Force and the new Wicked Twister coasters will be open during EE. Additionally, regular CP one-day admission tickets are available at a discount to registered guests at all of the CP hotel front desks.

I checked the CP website a couple of days ago and they did not have 2002 info available yet. Perhaps with this mailing they have also updated the website.

Thanks, John! I saw that the price of a one-day ticket will be $42 in 2002. I have gotten coupons for discount tickets in the past, and expect more of the same this year (because I'm out of state). My AAA office also sells discounted CP tickets.

The early-entry feature is GREAT for the coaster fans! That doesn't apply to me, but I'd still like to get into the park a bit early.

Woo Hoo! EE into Cedar Point! I knew that $75.00 Breakers room was worth it! Milleneum Force, HERE WE COME! I'll even get up early for that! (OOHHHH, did I really say that I , the queen of sleeping late would do that???)

Sorry we won't be there on the 25th with the rest of you, but the way Barry's vacation time works best we'll have to spend the 25th on the road to Ohio. With Barry driving through the hills of PA that's almost like riding a roller coaster!

Guess we'll just keep the blinds shut, because we won't want to watch the employees smoking and enjoy the view from elsewhere. Besides, while we're in the room we will probably be changing clothes or sleeping and the blinds would be closed anyway. Since there's NO ELEVATOR, does anyone know how many STAIRS we have to deal with?

The non-elevator area of the Breakers is only three stories, so at most you will have three flights of stairs to deal with.

It isn't so bad. I once lived on the 5th floor of a 5 floor dorm in college and there was no elevator. You could tell who didn't live there because they were out of breath by the time they reached the fifth floor! :)
