A little background......We leave on Wednesday and we had WL'd for a studio at AKV for the first 2 days of our trip. Well I called this morning and was able to get a savannah view studio. :cool1: I was told that because of there being no animals on the savannah that I would only be charged for a standard studio. She did say that there was a slight chance that there could be animals, and if there was, that we would get charged for a savannah view.

So my question...Is anyone there right now and can tell me if there are any animals on the savannah??:confused3 I'm really hoping that the animals are there because my kids would be over the moon!!! Especially since this trip is a surprise! TIA!!

The affected savanna is the Sunset Savanna which is the one that has been affected by the construction on Kidani Village. They are doing a lot of landscaping there now and so the animals could be removed at any time between Jan 15 and Apr 15. But as of Jan 22, there were still some animals on the Sunset Savanna according to dianeschlicht who is there now. You can find her report here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2067281

I hope the animals are still there during your stay. But if not, there are many public viewing areas around the resort.

I leave in 2 weeks for AKV we have a standard 2 bed booked is it possible if no animals are on the savannah that we could request a savannah view without animals for our standard view points?

Hope that makes sense :goodvibes

Interesting question. I have no idea but you could try asking at check in.

Standard View rooms in Jambo House have a view of the pool and are located fairly close (some very close) to the lobby, pool (obviously!) and restaurants. So you will get a nice view and a convenient location. Some rooms are over the roofs of the restaurants so that can interfere with the view but you're OK as long as you are looking out rather than directly down. From some rooms you can see a bit of the Uzima Savanna in the distance.

With a Sunset Savanna view room without the animals you will be looking at grass and trees and the new Kidani building, still under construction. There could also be landscaping crews out on the savanna while you are there.

Thanks for letting me know. I went over and asked Diane or anyone else that could shed some light.
