I went there once a lonnnnggg time ago, and was just about crucified for posting my opinion. OK, I was a newbie, and had NO CLUE as to what I was in for, for opening my BIG mouth. Now I know better, I'm not going back...You could be get in a lot of trouble over there....:(

LOL! I'm not "scared" of it, but I stay away because it can get really nasty over there.

I was terrified of the Debate Board for a long time, but it has become a place that I like. USUALLY people show respect for one another, and fight for the right of everyone to express their opinion. Sometimes, their is trouble, hostility etc. But just try to bring up certain subjects on this board. One of the questions I posted had to do with rudeness, and I believe that some people come to the board assuming rudeness is appropriate. (A point made by someone else!)

Now, that being said, I would avoid the place right now! It is a political hotbed! But I guess that that is how it came about in the first place!

I am sorry that you were jumped on your visit!

There are some things that do not go over well on the Debate Board.

Examples: Homeschooling. Putting 5 people in a 4 person room at WDW. Breastfeeding. Circumcision. Meds for ADHD. Whining (about gifts, what you are supposed to get at WDW, etc.).

Oh, and my personal favorite: Is taking extra plasticware/napkins at the condiment stands WDW counter service STEALING????

That's ok, it was my own fault. I DO have opinions, and it was a controversial one. I just should have scoped things out better to know that I would indeed be jumped on.. I lived...Now I wonder why anyone would want to go online and get into an arguement anyway... I get enough of that at home!!!!;) so glad I found the Community Board, you guys are so nice and helpful.

yup, scared enough so I don't go there!:scared: :D nah, I just don't care to debate, so I don't bother.

LOL, I could have used that info BEFORE I went to the debate board!!!(Won't tell you which one!);)

I used to go there and stir up trouble when I was pregnant & hormonal. I loved the debate board then! I rarely go over there now. ;)

I remember the first time I went over there, someone teared my opinion apart, sentence by sentence and misquired everything to a different level. I came back with answers and that is what the debate board posters look for.

I bravely even post threads there and you really get some great discussions going.

(But look out for the miniscule posters that attack):badpc:

Did someone say they were going to bring their refillable mugs back on their next trip? :p

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I will claim literate, if not intelligent! And I can't agree more re rabid dogs!

ROFLMAO, that was a good one....

Afraid of the DB?...Nah, I love the DB. There are some really great people there. All people have opinions, I just don't take it (insults included) all that seriously.

Would that be the "conservative side" who are the intelligent debaters? :D

Nah, I'm not afraid of it -- I avoid most political discussion, because invariably they mutate into the usual extreme left vs. right wing arguments, thus I haven't been to the DB in the past few months. :)

I am terrified :scared1: of the debate board sometimes....rabid dogs just seems like to nice a term sometimes!

I got attacked there once too....yikes..

Jungle Josh :scared1:

LOL, not scared, but never look at it anymore. Used to look at it once in awhile in the past, but now not for a long time. I think most of the folks there just enjoy arguing, the subject is sort of immaterial, just enjoy arguing. I like more the fluff stuff, enjoy the CB just fine.

it's the liberals who are the "intelligentsia" ...

no, actually, there are "normal" people (or what passes for it on the DB) on both sides of the issues, and rabid dogs on both sides as well.

I think the problem is that people have different ideas of what it means to be 'attacked'. IMO, some people consider it an attack if you simply point out why you disagree.

I am not saying there aren't downright personal insults flying sometimes. But honestly, some people cannot handle any disagreement at all.

btw, this is not meant to be directed at any poster here who has said they were attacked on the DB...I have no idea what instances you are referring to.
