Is an upgrade possible???

Would anyone know if it would be possible to upgrade from an AKL Studio SV to a 1 Bedroom AKL Savannah View with DVC Points? I have rented points from a DVC member for April 27th thru May 4th 2008 for my DH, myself and our GD. I have already made and paid for the reservation with a DVC member. My son and his GF have now decided they too want to go so we will need more space. I would like to upgrade to a 1 bedrm. and need to know if it is possible to rent more DVC points and add them to our existing reservation ?
Any DVC experts out there that can help I would greatly appreciate it ! TIA

You would have to arrange that with the current member whose points you rented. If he/she has points available, then changing the reservation may be possible. It depends on availability for your dates.

You cannot rent additional points from someone different and use them to 'upgrade' your room.

Basically it becomes a cancellation and a brand new booking.

AKL rooms are not available with points. ONLY AKV rooms can be booked with points. As with at all DVC locations, you can not book regular rooms with DVC points. It looks to me like you might have to add another reservation. First of all, call the person you rented from and find out if they do indeed have more points available. Then if they do and are willing to rent them, they will have to check availability with DVC/MS when it opens. Theoretically, a SV studio will sleep 5 people with 2 of them in a sleep sofa and 1 in the pull out chair, but you will definitely be "cozy". A 1 bedroom will have the same bedding options, but at least you will have two rooms instead of one. You will still only have 1 bathroom though. I guess if it was me, I would suggest the son and girlfriend get their own studio.

Actually, a SV studio sleeps up to 4 adults, not 5. Your best bet is to go with the SV one-bedroom which does sleep up to 5.
