Is an OKW GV ever possible to get at 7 months?

Just wondering if anyone has ever been able to get a week in a GV at OKW at 7 months...

If so, what time of year?

Just curious.....

We have heard at least one report of someone doing this. I think it has only been one. These are very difficult to get even at the eleven month mark.

It has gotten somewhat easier since the passes ran out. I suspect that this may be a temporary thing though. Many OKW owners never went anywhere else for many year because of the passes. Last year and this year are the first time without the passes, so I expect that the number of OKW owners oting for a change is probably reaching a peak right now.

I don't think there will ever be a better time to try than now. Weekends will be easy. You may want to try and call and ask them to look at the previous month and see what weekend has the most days available before and/or after it, book that and what ever days are available and get on the waiting list for the days you are missing. You can make alternate plans for you home resort so that at least you will have something.

Obsessive as I am, I was looking over my next few years' point usage and trying to figure out how to take my dh's siblings.....a GV looks ideal, but highly unlikely for then. I'm looking at....hmmmm....2004!

We'll probably get a 2br and a studio when the time comes....hopefully at OKW because this would be one of the few instances I'd want lots of space over location.....if I'm guessing correctly that shouldn't be too hard to get. The idea of 3 women in a BW kitchen kinda scares me (as I'd be one of 'em).

Just kidding, though If I were you, I'd book BW at the 11 month window, get the 2BR and Studio (maybe standard view to save points if that's important - or if it gets you all an extra night on the trip?) and make the guys take you out every evening!

We have always reserved a GV at the 11 month mark and day by day. I will tell you that when we were at OKW on our first point stay back in 1997, there was a family in the GV in our are who had exchanged through II and got the exchange just 2 weeks before their trip. They had planned on a 2 BR, but got a GV. I have a feeling that was a fluke though, because someone caceled a GV at the last minute.

Two years ago, we were able to get the Grand Villa at Okw for late Oct at the 7 month window. We own at both BW and the Okw, but didn't call for the resv. until under 7 months. This past Sept. Our friends were able to get two GVs at okw on cash for the week. I thought this was impossible, but they did it. I tried to get them to buy into DVC, save the money, and stay on points. They decided to buy too late to be able to change it to points. We did it at the BW last Oct/Nov also. We had about 6 assorted rooms at the Bw and Okw, and about 2 to 3 WEEKS before we went, a GV at the BW opened up. We canceled 3 rooms and stayed in the GV.

Thanks for the input! When the time comes I'll probably reserve a 2br and studio at BWV at 11 mo., then try for the OKW GV at 7...but take a 2br and studio at OKW (hopefully)and try doing the wait list for the GV. We're looking at September, so I'm glad that fall seems to be when these flukes occur. I certainly won't count on it, but at least there is some minute chance that we could get it!

Lesley, I've only stayed at the GV once, but they are incredibly spacious. We were in one of the newer ones near the resort entrance. The kitchens are open into the dining area which then opens into the living room. I'm sure someone has pictures they could post but I'm not the computer smart.
