Is a Short trip to the World worth it?

I am looking for some help. Is a short visit to the World REALLY worth it? Our past visits have been 7 night stays and we can barely get all our favorites in, I don't know if I can plan a 3 day/2 night visit and have it be worthwhile and memorable. My DH and I would really love to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the World (3/25), but because of his job we can only get a short stay this year. Any suggestions or encouragement would be great. Thanks

I think 7 nights is too long! lol. I think if I were on a trip with just me and dh, we would definitely have a great time with only 3 days/2 nights. If I didn't have to stand in lines to meet princesses, or spend 3/4 of the trip in Fantasyland, we would have more time to do the things we liked. Add to that a relaxing dinner in Epcot and it would be a very fun trip. Also, I would get a room at the GF, or Poly so having access to the monorail would cut down on travel time.

Pick which attractions are must sees, and stick to that. Without children, it would be sooooo easy to visit one park in the morning, then hop over to another park in the evenings.

Have fun. :)

ANY trip is worthwhile :)
I've gone for as little as one day (okay, fine, one day at Epcot and one at Universal)

ITA that any trip is worth it! Maybe consider a different touring strategy...enjoy a nice long dinner like the OP suggested, or just use the time to do your favorites, only slower.

Go, go!

For us, I think the justifiable shortest trip would be three days in the World. We just have a problem spending less time at our destination than the travel time would take (assuming we're driving).

Now, if the airline fairies (we are talking magic, ain't we) would visit our home airport (Knoxville TN) with some $39 round-trip tickets per person to Orlando, I think we would have a different justification, wouldn't we?

I love short trips. I think that if you can only get a few days in.. GO! Sounds like it will just be you grown ups. That way you can pick & chose what you want to enjoy and enjoy it. HAVE FUN!

I am doing a short little trip in a week or so. We get in the evening of 1/30, have all day 1/31 & 2/1 in the parks and leave in the afternoon of 2/2.

A little time at WDW is better than no time at all!

We went to MK for one day after our cruise a few years ago.

I say go for it! You will probably miss doing some of the things you wanted, but you will probably be back again, right?

So what's the problem. If that's where you want to be for your 25th (congratulations, BTW, that's a wonderful milestone, and one that isn't always easy) that's where you should be.

Suggestions? Yes. Plan to do very little. Maybe only two parks in one day or 3 parks in two days. Pick a few attractions at each park and schedule some nice meals. Leave yourself time to stroll around and enjoy each other and where you are. Have a nice time. You deserve it.

DEFINITELY GO FOR IT!!! We did this December 2004 and it was one of our best trips (well, all of them are wonderful)! I worried about the same thing, but we had such a blasting hitting all of our favorite spots. We wanted to go one last time before I got pregnant, and we had a blast. We used Fastpass really well to see all of our favorites. We knew we'd be back for future trips, so we didn't mind not seeing everything.

We arrived late Friday night and stayed at the BWV. On Saturday, we walked to MGM, spent about 4 hours in there, then walked to Epcot and stayed there the rest of the day. In addition to hitting all of our favorite attractions, we squeezed in a nice sit down dinner at Chefs de France, as well as the Candlelight Processional. We went to DTD for an hour that night (had to go to World of Disney and the Christmas Shop!). We spent Sunday in the MK until we had to leave for our ride to the airport home--flight was 8pm, I think.

We packed what we needed in 2 backpacks (I'm usually an over-packer, but it really helped to pack light for this trip) so we didn't have to check bags. We brought the back packs into MK with us, stored them in a big locker for the day so we didn't have to go back to BWV to get them. When we left MK, we walked to the Contemprary (5 minute walk) and we got our Tiffany Town Car there (arranged with them ahead of time to have a different pick up location Sunday than our drop-off on Friday). While it wasn't a laid back vacation because of the timeframe, we had such a wonderful time. We plan to do this for our anniversary later this year because we don't want to be away from our daughter for more than a weekend. I would highly recommend it, especially if it's just you and our hubby!

All we do are short trips (but we live close). It's too hard for my DD21 to get away for more than that. We love it!

I would do it with the following conditions:
  • I got a great deal on airfare.
  • I could fly in either very early on Day #1 (or late the night before Day #1) and return late Day #3.
  • I could go at a time when the park stay open late.
  • I could book CSR, Poly, YC&BC or BW. I'd want to be near the parks so that I could maximize my short time there.

Between the flight time (2½ hrs.) and the time spent on the ground getting to/from the airport and then waiting at the airport (for security, boarding, ground transportation), I would not go if I could not get at least 2 days in at the parks.

Our last trip was 4 nights and it was just enough to satisfy my Disney craving without being too long. We got in very late on Day #1 (11:30pm) and left later (4:30 pm) on Day#5. This gave us 3 full days in the parks and ½ day on the final day to enjoy the pool and then do some shopping before we left.

A week at the World would be way too long for us. We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves.

We were there last week - three nights at BWI. We went to the Magic Kingdom one day and spent one day at Epcot. Perfect.

We did our favorites and that was enough.

You can definitely have fun for a couple of days.

Here's what I'd do: Pick just two parks, say MK and Epcot since they share the monorail, and just stick with those. Three days should be close to adequate.

Thanks for the great ideas! You are helping me get my mind around planning a short trip and setting some priorities.

Absoultely!! Although I prefer long trips, we've been doing short trips lately because of our kids schedules. Most times we plan one last minute and always have a wonderful time. I would not suggest this to first time or not-frequent visitors, but for those who can visit often short trips are great. We do the things that we most love. IMHO, ANY TIME at Disney is wonderful!!

Have Fun!!

My husband and I went for a three day trip right after Labor Day last year, so the crowds were nonexistent, and we had a terrific time. We only went on the rides we really wanted to, and we didn't feel like we had to do every single thing. We were able to spend enough time at all four parks and had really nice dinners too. My only regret was that we didn't spend enough time checking out our resort, the AKL. It was the perfect little end-of-summer trip!

I am planning a 3 night/4 day trip the first week of May with my grown daughters and two grandkids. It's shorter than I've ever gone before, but I am looking forward to it. I plan on taking my time and seeing the World through a 2 y/o eyes. I agree with a previous poster, anytime at WDW is worth it. I am getting a free airline ticket from Airtrans through their Wendy's promotion and using DVC points or getting a cheap/military rate at the Swan or Dolphin, so it's a little cheaper. But, I am looking forward to this trip as much as my previous, longer trips.
