Is a PIN any better than AP rate?

I have an AP and just received a PIN. Is the PIN rate going to be different, as in better, than the AP rate?

What kind of offer might be in the PIN? I never used one before. TIA

If the PIN is for General Public..then usually an AP discount is more..GP was 25% off now..AP rate is 30%..this was for values and AKL..other AP discounts were about 5% more than GP.

It can be better esp. if the room/resort/date you want is one of the dates/resorts where weekends are not included in AP discount. Check both ways, I always do!

I had a PIN that I used (expired in July) for my December reservation. It gave me 40% off a moderate resort. That's better than the AP rate of 35% at a moderate resort.

ok I am sorry this is a dumb question, but what is a pin???
A PIN is a special offer, e-mailed or snail mailed to specific people/families, apparently at random. It is not open to the general public, and there is usually an 11 or so digit code attached to the PIN which you must provide to use it. It cannot be transferred since it's attached to your name.

You can call Disney reservations and ask if there's a PIN in your name, and sometimes a nice CM will check for you.

AP discounts are always higher. At least by a little bit.

That's not always true. We booked the Poly in March with a PIN that I received that gave us 35% off. When AP rates came out, I called to check and found that the discount for the Poly was only 32%

Does Disney usually give an AP discount at BC for the end of July?

I think the Poly is getting discounted lower than other Deluxes on current offers.

Just received the pin below through email yesterday 12/6/10:

Save 40% at Select Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts
(30% at Disney's Beach Club Villas)

Save 35% at Select Disney Deluxe Resorts
(25% at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)

Save 30% at Select Disney Moderate Resorts
(15% at Disney's Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter)

Save 25% at Select Disney Value Resorts
(15% at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort)

For stays most nights 1/2–4/16/11 & 5/1–6/5/11.

Though it is pretty good, we probably cannot go during these times and/or if we did, we might opt for Free Dining instead. Just wanted to let you guys know it is out there.

In my experience I have been able to get better discounts with an AP than PIN codes. I have BC booked in early April wth a 42% off AP rate. I am not saying a PIN will never beat an AP rate, however I think most often AP rates are as good or better, at least over the past year or two. The few PINs I have received have been room discounts, but I think sometimes there are PINs for free dining.

Most of the time, in my experience, the AP rate is going to be better! Some of the GP PINS and offers are a package deal, meaning you have to purchase tickets with your room to get the discount. AP rates are "room only" so there is obviously no tie-in for tix because we don't need them! Watch the PIN codes and GP codes to make sure they are "room only" codes!
