Is 8 too much for BCV 2 Bedroom

We just changed our upcoming Easter trip from a 2 Bedroom at OKW to a 2 Bedroom at BCV for 8 people. So it will be me and DH in the Master and 6 others to split the living room and 2nd bedroom.

I am not concerned about the point difference ast going at Easter it is only 45 more points for 5 nights. The problem is swapping the space of OKW for the location and pool at BCV.

I am thinking, suck it up, it is BCV. We will only be sleeping in the room.

I don't care too much as I will have the King size bed, but will I be asking too much for my guests to sleep on two pull out couches?

Also, from the DVC Member site, it states one queen and double sleeper sofa or two queen beds.

Does anyone know for a fact that any of the second bedrooms have two beds?

We are in a lockoff, so chances are that our second has the sleeper.

Two-Bedroom Vacation Home (sleeps 8)

  • Master suite with king-size bed and whirlpool tub
  • Separate bedroom with private bath and either one queen-size bed and double-size sleeper sofa or two queen-size beds
  • Queen-size sleeper sofa in living room
  • TV/DVD
  • Fully-equipped kitchen
  • Stacked washer/dryer
  • Private porch or balcony

I guess it depends on a few things...how comfortable are your guests in sharing a room with others? are they aware of the sleeping arrangements ahead of time? and are they reimbursing you for the use of the points?

I usually have 6 when we are in a 2BR (4 in our family and my parents in the studio portion). Sometimes I treat my parents, and some times they pay a little for the room or buy the groceries or something. This trip, I have 7 or 8. My Aunt, Uncle and either their son or their daughter and her husband will share the studio part. I have no problem with arrangement and don't feel bad at all about it. They know ahead of time what the sleeping arrangements will be and this is my treat for them.

To me, the space between OKW and BWV or BCV isn't really an issue. The number of "beds" is really the same. I would much rather sleep on a pull-out and have the location of BCV (not to mention SAB) than to have a regular bed and be at OKW....just my preference - not putting OKW down.

It will be tight but you will all fit.
In a lock off you WILL have the queen and sleeper in the "studio" side. The 2 queens are not even in all the dedicated 2BR.

You may miss the extra space that OKW provides, but you will still have a great location and WDW #1 pool.

Have a great trip,

The dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV with the 2 Q's in the second bedroom are a room type, not just a request, so if you want one, see if you can get on a waiting list for one.

They are your guests, I would at least tell them the sleeping arrangements. DH and I always have mentioned to the people about the bedding, letting them decide if they want to go with us or go on their own. Everyone has always decided to come with us! However, for 8 adults (are they adults) in a 2 bedroom with only 2 beds, I know that I would look for alternate arrangements.

Bobbi :)

The guests are chipping in, but not the full load. We are treating a bit.

It will be 3 adults and 3 children taking the other three beds. So I am not worried about the kids really. They and my brother usually wind up sleeping on the floor instead of the extra queen beds when they come over my house by choice.

The other two adults can take the queen bed then.

I think things will work out. Just speaking to another DVC member here at work who mentioned, she takes her blowup instead of pulling out the sleeper as it is more comfortable. So that is always an option. I personally couldn't sleep on one, but I know some people love them.

Hello MCR5298:

I have a trip planned in late April for 2 bdrm boardwalk villas with both of my 2 sisters and their husbands and 3 kids, ages 9, 8, and 6. (9 people total) :grouphug:

I gave them this deal. I will provide a 2 bedroom villa, and if you decide you need more accommodations, then you will need to pay for and split the cost of another room at DVC or somewhere else.

Both sisters agreed that all adults need to be able to sleep on an actual bed.

I have offered to rent them the additional studio for the going rate of $10/pt as that depletes our remaining points to even be borrowed. I know that if hubby and I want to go again soon, we will have to rent more points to replace the ones they are renting from us.

It comes out to about $70 / night per family and they think its a great bargain. I am waiting on definite word before making the reservation. It looks like it will be done within the 7 month window.

I've also let both sisters know that once these accommodations are made, that they really don't need to cancel except for extremely good reasons that would with rare exception frankly involve us all.

I was up front with what I was offering, and though a bit confusing for 1st timers, it seems to be working out.

Yes, I know OKW solves the bed problem, but hubby is adament about his guaranteed boardwalk view.

It looks like we will be there after you leave, so here is some pixie dust pixiedust: pixiedust: , and save some magic for us.

Good Luck!

Well I guess I will be the distenting vote. I would rather have OKW any day with the extra room and real beds over the pool at BCV. I mean won't you be sleeping more hours than using the pool. I guess to me the pool is just not worth the loss of beds and living space in the living room. We felt crowded with 5, I can't imagine 8. Plus I feel the OKW pool is great and SAB is over rated.

Just my opinion, but sleeping on a sofa bed to me is no vacation. It is pure torture.

If you are in a lock off you will get one bed and one sofa sleeper in the studio section. The 2 bedrooms with 2 queens are only dedicated and there are only 25 of them and they have to be booked.

As long as you let your guests know in advance about the sleeping arrangements then it truly is their choice. Good luck with the planning.

I agree, I'd rather have OKW then BCV. We've had OKW with 8 people ranging from 3 yrs to 62 yrs. We were glad to have the floor space since DS decided he rather sleep on the floor with the couch cushions than share a bed.

Thanks again for all of the advice. I think that we will ultimately stay with BCV's. Our guests are not too picky, so I think that they will make do with the sleeping arrangements. My BIL will sleep just about anywhere, so the floor is not out of the questions for him. Our two cousins are sisters who lived together for a while at one time. They are used to sharing beds! Plus, we are picking up most of their cost for the room. The rest are kids, so they don't really get a say in the matter until they are older! ;) Beggers can't be choosers. None of them have ever stayed at the BCV's before, so they are not aware of what it is like. My BIL is big on picking up and taking off with his daughter and meeting up with us later. I think the location will make it much easier for all. We can take a boat or walk to MGM & EPCOT. The Boardwalk area is awesome! And SAB just can't be beat, in my opinion! :) And the busses will take us to the water parks, Downtown Disney, Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kindgom. We could even walk to the entrance of EPCOT and take the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom if we wanted to!

So, I guess that our mind is made up. I just wanted to see what kind of advice would come back! :)

We have friends ( and relatives ) who, if given a wheel-barrow full of gold, would complain about the inconvenience of having to lug all of that heavy old gold all the way down to the bank. On the other hand, we have friends ( and relatives ) who are simply delighted to share experiences and enjoyable moments with others. We tend to invite the people who like to have fun when we go to WDW and they do just fine with whatever accomodations are provided. You know your crew best, but if you choose wisely, there's no reason 8 people in a 2-BR ( no matter where it is ) can't have a great time!

Good luck!

We stayed at the BCV with 8. had a great time. Loved the pool. Spent alot of time there. Hope you have a great time.:cool1:

If you haven't done it yet, you might try to get switched to a dedicated 2-B/R villa. Maybe even wait list if you have to.

Some factors in a dedicated vs. lockoff:

2 Beds

More Closet Space (since there is no kitchenette)

No outside door entrance (might be important if any of the kids will be sleeping in the 2nd bedroom.)

I agree with this - we had 5 adults and 1 small child and it was crowded in the main living areas. If the sofa was open as a bed it was hard to even move in there. We have done all of the above - air mattress, sofa cushions, using the extra closet as a sleeping area ( kids think it is a fort) and all have worked well. It sounds like your group will do okay since they seem to be flexible but I would try for a dedicated even if it doesn't have the two queen beds in the second bedroom. Hope you have a fun trip.

I personally would go with the larger unit at OKW. I'd actually try to get a GV for this size group if you could and had the points. I think 8 is tight even at OKW. But 8 is workable at the other resorts if the sleeping arrangements work out. The 2 BR at BCV are set up with a queen pull out in the LR and a full size in the second for the lockoff. A third of the dedicated units have 2 queens, the rest have a queen and pull out queen. As presented, it sounds likely you have a lockoff unit with the smaller full size pull out (love seat).

3 years ago we had 8 in a 2 bedroom BWV , we were nervous about the space , it turned out to be fantastic . Sure there wasn't a ton of spreading out space but sharing a vacation with family and friends and having such fun with all of them made up for everything.

I also just got back from a BWV studio and had the new pull out sofa , it was very comfy, unlike the older sofa's. I hope you get a new sofa in your unit.

I'm a huge BCV fan, next to VWL, it is my favorite!

However, with 8 people, I would also stay at OKW. In fact, we had 8 people in a 2 BR and a studio a few years back and it was perfect. This past May we had 4 in a 2 BR at BWV and it was crowded (to me). The seating in the LR area and that dining room table, just too small. Perfect for 2 of us though, which is why we stay at VWL.

Those 1 BR configurations at the resorts other than OKW are just not big enough. Hope this is not construed as resort bashing. I put location above room size when it is just 2 of us.

OKW would be more comfortable for 8 people in a two bedroom, especially if you're planning to eat most of your meals in. There's more room in the kitchen area for people to come and go. The seating in the living room area and the dining room table is very tight for 8 people at the other DVC resorts.
OKW gives you room to spread out.

FOUR PEOPLE IN A TWO BEDROOM IS TOO SMALL...COME ON!!!!!!! :happytv: Four is GREAT in a two bedroom. We love it with four of us! Who sits at the kitchen table at the same time????? You even have the counter and stools in the kitchen and the living room table....We never even use the kitchen table LOL.

Thanks again everyone. We are aware of the size of all of the DVC resorts. Actually, my DH is the one who started this thread. Somehow he needs justification for doing things! ;) I do not, and think that we will be just fine in the 2 bedroom at BCV's. We are going with people who will adjust well, and appreciate the joy of just being in Disney World. We are planning on doing the dining plan, so we shouldn't have to many meals to eat in the room. Maybe snacks and cereals. And with half the group being kids, I don't see them sleeping late. My DH is always up at the crack of dawn, ready to go for the day. The fold out couch in the living room will be put away to make room. Actually, the girls who are sharing the couch always sleep on the floor at our house. So the couch may not come out much anyway. We are just so excited to be staying at such a great location, and things will all work out! :)
