Is 7pm @Rose&Crown too early

We have a 7pm ps for rose and crown and want to see the 900pm illuminations is this too early, and how do we go about getting on the patio?

From our experience, a PS 1 1/2 hours before Illuminations is optimal to get patio seating. However, I bet there are people that have gotten it with earlier and later PS times. I hope you will get more people's responses but remember getting patio seating is always iffy. I think it's a very popular request and I hope you get lucky! Enjoy!

7:40 and 7:50 have worked for us. No guarantees about the patio though. Try NOT to give them a hard time about being seated outdoors, I have seen that work against some people

With a & PS AND you get patio.......order appetizers, drinks and dessert....make that meal last.

7pm is okay. Remember that this is ps, so you might not get seated right away. As for the patio, you can request it when you check into the podium, but I can almost guarantee that everyone who has a 6:30pm or later dinner is requesting the same exact thing. It's luck of the draw and there's really nothing you can do to improve your odds. Also, being on the patio does not mean that you'll get an Illuminations view. There are a number of tables that are back under the awning and you won't see anything in the sky. The Rose & Crown policy is that when you're name comes up in the ps queue, whatever table is available for the number of your party is where you'll be seated. You can't offer to wait for an outside table, but you can ask to be put back into the ps queue to take your chances again. Obviously, the later it is, the less likely you will get an Illuminations view.

This is a must stop for us because I love the pie sampler and the beer sampler. We always ask for the patio but have only gotten it about 33% of the time but that is OK.

Please don't give the CM's a hard time. We sat under the awning area right behind the and EVERY SINGLE person asked for a seat to watch Illuminations. I felt awful for the poor CM who had to listen to a woman say over and over, "I was quaranteed a spot" outside which everyone who has ever made a PS for this restaurant knows isn't true.

The food is excellent here, so just go and enjoy.

I was told that even if you don't get seating on the Patio, your server will tell you that it is about time for Illuminations to start and give you the option of going out to the patio to watch.

Is this true?

I remember that they did do this in the past, but I think there were less tables on the patio then. You really can't do it now, there just isn't any room. I think that they will direct you to the right of the take out window for viewing.

We've had great luck with 7:30 PSs. I think the only time we ended up inside was last June/July when there was a torrential downpour and no one was seated on the terraces. That night it eased up by 9:00 and we did walk out for Illuminations. However, no one was eating out there that night.

Oh, boy. Does THAT bring back a bad memory.

OK.

They sent us out to the patio, where we were to the left of the podium. We stood behind a 6 1/2 foot gentleman and under a tree whose leave were 6 3/4 foot from the ground. The wind was blowing our way, the children were overtired and now I was holding a 30 lb toddler.

It was so bad it was funny!

Maybe they've changed it but I wouldn't expect a nice viewing area.
