or do any other provider offer the same service?

I realise we could instant message each other in free wifi areas-

however would like also to text, call each other when we're Apart and obviously to keep in touch with folks back in the UK also.

We normally buy disposable cells or pays sims when we're away-but if this worked out cheaper?! Then clearly we could just use our own handsets.

Edit-I omitted from my title-when we are in the us

Only one I know that include UK allowance in US.
You might be able to buy add ons for others.
Been with Three about 4 years now, they just get better and better.

Thanks Wayne.
A positive report from you is a definite recommendation.
We shall pursue further at the weekend.

If by chance you are with O2 you an use TuGo (on the app store). If you are connected to WiFi you can send and receive calls and texts using you monthly allowance.

We used it last time and it worked a treat

We had terrible trouble with 3 - signal here was absolutely dreadful, staff not helpful at all, ended up paying off contracts because the phones were unusable for days on end, pretty regularly, there was nothing more we could do. Obviously this is not the case for all of 3s customers but we did not have a good experience, so just do the research beforehand. All 4 members of our family are now happily with O2 and genuinely no international package would make me go anywhere near 3 again!

Quite the opposite here - despite living in a relatively rural area, the 3 signal has been far better than any other network and we are regularly able to access 4G. The Feel at Home was the icing on the cake - we will definitely be using it next month!

You definitely need to get a free PAYG SIM or someone you know with a Three contract to test your own area. Around here I always struggled with 02, Voda & Orange(also struggled to get a TV signal until cable came along) then I discovered Three, perfect 5 bar signal & faster internet than my business broadband.
I pay £10/month and get all the mins, texts & internet I can possibly use. Using my allowance abroad is just a great bonus.

I got a 3 PAYG sim for a spare phone last year, used it to call UK and for data while away from wifi, worked well. Bought a £15 add on which gave me 300 minutes, a load of texts and unlimited data if I remember correctly, lasts for one month. When we were away from wifi my daughter was able to connect to my data on this phone somehow, but I've no idea how.

Yeah, definitely see if you can try "3" on the cheap first to get an idea of their suitability for you. I get a great signal at home with them (a large town admittedly, but we're on the periphery and it's countryside for miles afterwards), but conversely the signal is poor at my work in the centre of London! Only used the phone abroad once since they went to this new roaming deal and that was a day trip to France, so can't really comment too much on that part of things.

Just a little update.

We have "converted"

Bought sim free phones and sim only deals from 3.
Looking forward to utilising in 130 days time.:flower1::flower1:

Quick question, do you notify 3 in advance of your travels?:fish:

Feel at home automatically works just make sure you are set up for using abroad.
Have you registered on MyThree? Once you have you can goto your account, into international settings and check what coverage you have.

For calls it should say:
You've got international roaming turned on. This means you can make calls and send texts while youre abroad.

For internet use, first box should be ticked:
UK and abroad

UK only

I dont want to be able to use internet anywhere

Sorry can't help with 3 - DH is with them and sings their praises a lot. I am with Virgin but out of contract in March and yep, I'm going over to 3 too. It was the 0800 numbers and the use abroad that made me think of leaving!

But, really just wanted to say - 130 days - OMG. How did that come around so quickly!? We aren't that far behind - well, not if you say it fast lol!

Is this the PE flight trip? Or is that later? I am still hoping to see a photo of the new reclined PE seats at some point! There is a photo going around but it's not of the actual seats on the plane, it's a mock up so doesn't really help that much.

Our okw trip booked last year in Pe isn't until October with dmil.
She is actually more excited than me, and that takes some doing!

This is an added extra wonderful trip. as dd and ds decided they would come away with us again, so I jumped at that-and we are going for 2 weeks in July.
Obviously,it's predominantly wdw-of course
We do have a little trip to universal booked also-one night at rpr.

Without boring you too much-I developed some strange medical issues at the end of our hols last year-which resulted in a trip to the docs the day we returned back to newcastle last August.
And then several more trips, hospital and surgery.
Complications from a prior surgery (over 10 years ago!)

So, I've overplayed the sympathy card-and booked Pe for july also.
"Kids" don't know that yet, but I'm bound to cave soon.
We did consider for a moment booking from other airports.;but would have to be a huge price difference after being spoiled by flying locally last year.

Therefore, I'm doubly excited-and also looking forward to pics.

Wow - amazing, two trips in such a short space of time! And to think you were having to 'work on' your DH at one point!

Sorry to hear about your medical issues - hope it's all resolved now and I'm sure PE will be more comfy for you - so good on you! ;-)

I know, DH is adamant we aren't going back to Orlando - this is our one and only - and I secretly wonder how I'd feel if he did say yes but we had to compromise to get costs down by flying say from Manchester and not staying onsite! It just seems such a faff flying non local - on the way back in particular! Having said all that, I think I'd consider the Ncl to NY to Orlando route now it's starting up as at least that's back into Ncl. But, this is all pie in the sky as he won't budge - let's just hope he enjoys it so much, he changes his mind. Would be 2-3 years before we could go again anyway.

Where are you staying in July - villa or onsite? You need to get yourself a countdown so I don't need to ask :p.

I do recall you asking about RPR or HRH but I thought it was for your October holiday! :o

On the PE seat front - I seem to think not all jets are done yet and some may not be done before summer - I think 4 are now refitted.

Seriously, I didn't want to go to orlando our first trip.
We did no planning, no research at all-
And I really thought it was all big roller coasters and not my scene at all.

It's seems so unbelievable now-however, I was totally with your dh.
Our "only" trip was indeed going to be our once in a lifetime.
In fact, I was secretly relieved when we couldn't go in 2004 and had to postpone to 2005
Clearly, that all changed within seconds of arriving at Magic kingdom.

Your Dh may well not have the same amazing response, however I'm sure he'll want to go back.

It does seem incredible I had to work on dh for October-as he now loves the idea of being back at okw and taking his mum.and the ddp.

We are staying at sunset lakes again in the same villa-it's a beautiful villa.
The first week we are in cheaper accommodation also at sunset lakes and pofq (it's a long story!?!)
And have qsdp-so looking forward to that food also.
Food is good.

Men eh! :scared: My DH is fairly stubborn tbh. But we'll see! There are lots of other places we want to try too so I guess in some ways I can see his logic :rolleyes1.

I don't know many villa areas but I've heard a fair bit about Sunset Lakes - it sounds lovely. And then heading to POFQ sounds great. I like the idea of the QSDP as you aren't so tied! But we are grateful for the DDP as it means we can do a lot of character meals etc which we wouldn't do if we had to pay OOP!
