we did the land/sea in 2006 and stayed at the Poly, had a great, wonderful
trip. this summer we're going land/sea and staying at AKL. At the Poly. we
had great access to all the parks and transportation, this summer we
expect to have great access to the animals etc. Will the new resort make
this trip as special as the first????

I don't know about the resort, but we like our second family trip better than our first. We were more relaxed, knew more of what we wanted to do and wanted to skip and we knew more about what our kids really liked and what they didn't like. Even with all the planning for the first one we found the second trip to be much more enjoyable! Now I can't wait to go for the third... :rotfl:

It is always kind of fun when you try a new resort, because you don't know what to expect as far as looks and that. I agree, this trip you will know more and it will be more relaxing. It will be special and you will probably see things you missed before.

My first trip to WDW was when I was about two, so I can't say my pov is the same as yours ...but I can say, every trip is magical.

AKL is one of my favorite places.

On the other hand, this last trip, we stayed at Pop for the first time (I've stayed at GF, AKL, Swan, mods prior to this), and that was a lot of fun too. Much better than I would have thought a few years ago! It was great to see something new (to us) and be surprised by what it held.

...but I can say, every trip is magical.

I totally agree with this post, and we are currently planning trip #25(?) We've stopped counting. :goodvibes

We still countdown the months-days-minutes until we're immersed in the magic, and left the rest of the world outside.

There is always something new to try, even when we've enjoyed four or five trips in a year -- new attraction, refurbished attraction, new restaurant, resort we've never stayed before, new show or parade, etc.

And as a previous poster mentioned, we know what we can skip because it didn't appeal to us. (Stitch's Alien Encounter --> blech!)

AKL is fantastic! The theming is incredible, the animals are mesmerizing, and the restaurants are wonderful. Have a great second trip, and best wishes for your third, fourth, fifth...:cool1:

we are working on 6th trip and i"m just as excited about going as the first time. :cool1: everytime we goto disney we see or do something new.it"s the bestplace on the planet! you'll have a great time!:santa:

We've only been once, But We are planning our second trip in the summer 08 and I think it will be better. As another poster has said, We'll be more familier with the parks, what rides we like best, how everything works, etc. etc....I can't wait to go back to rhe world...:cool1:

We've been about 50 times. Every time is a new time for us. It doesn't matter where we stay or what we do, each trip is a first trip. Because we do something new or something we haven't done in a long, long time every time.

Most of your trip needs to be in your thinking. If you think this trip won't be as magical as the first one, it probably won't be. But if you think this trip is going to be better than the first one, it will be.

Our first trip was planned two months in advance and we had never stayed on site. Had only visited 1 day, 1 park every other summer as a child. My husband had only ever been to EPCOT. So the first trip was great but a learning experience. Between the 1st and second trip I was able to do a little more planning and a little more research (found disboards!). So our trip second trip was incredible! We are well into planning the 3rd trip and expect it will be absolutely fantastic also! New resort, new character meals, P&PP, etc. There is so much to do that we still haven't done!

I think each trip is special for different reasons. our last trip was special because it was a graduation/one last family harrah before our oldest graduated. This next trip will just be DH, my self and our 5(then 6 year old) and he has us to himself to do what ever he wants. Each trip is for a diferent reason or with differnt people and that is what makes it special.

For us, it seems like every trip gets better because we know more, so we spend less time figuring things out and more time having fun. My first trip was off-site, hot, crowded, and generally nuts. The second trip was better, on-site, dining plan, but we were still the people standing off to the side, looking at the map to decide where to go next. By the third trip, I really had it down, and we go in with a general plan so we aren't doing as much backtracking and skip the things we didn't enjoy last time. So each trip feels just a little more special and a little more fun than the last.

I was at WDW in August and am now planning trip number 9 for next year. Every year we see something new and try to stay at a different resort. Your second trip should be more relaxed and you will know your way around better. I am always sad when I get home and can't wait to go back!!!

I would say yes. Our trip in 2002 was special because it was our first. Our second trip for Christmas 2006 was just as special, our DS celebrated his 18th birthday, Christmas at WDW was awesome, and we were more relaxed the 2nd time around "the world."

Whether it is the first, second or twenty-third trip..... we get excited for them all! And of course staying at and experiencing a new resort makes it just a little more exciting and magical. You will  AKL! Gorgeous resort!

was more 'fun'.

The first trip was a first for the whole family and our first big family vacation [besides camping, etc.].

So we were wide-eyed excited about everything. And the kids were perfect ages for all things make-believe. It was all about character interaction.

This trip it was all about rides. Still magical but just a little different. We did character meets as well. Staying at the Poly this trip was magical. We all had a blast.

We were still getting our bearings at MGM and AK but the other 2 parks were much easier.

I had found DISboards before 1st trip thank goodness...

Trish

looking forward to trip #3 :cloud9: some day.
