Is $2 a day a good tip or is she gonna spit on my pillow?

Is housekeeping a "tipped" position for wage laws in Florida? Do they get a sub minimum wage like servers and valets? What about bellmen? Just curious?

I was wondering about housekeepers as right now disney is offering a $1,000 signing bonus for them right now. I guess the job is really hard and they are under staffed.

I live off tips, I'd be happy with the 2 dollars. I leave 4 or 5 but lots of people leave nothing for housekeeping I suppose and 2 dollars shows you're thinking about them and appreciate their hardwork, I'm sure they will be happy you took the thought and time to leave it for them.

I leave $2 per person per day and tip everyday. I do, however, leave the room as is, I don't straighten at all. I'm on vacation, and I appreciate having someone else clean up after me.

As a solo traveler I usually leave a $3.00 tip per day, and I leave my room in good shape every morning as I leave for the day.

Just a good practice methinks.

Enjoy.

I've got my special mousekeeping envelopes printed and have been putting away crisp $5.00 bills with which to stuff them, one for each night!!!

We do $1/day/person. I have never used the envelopes before but thanks to the DIS :disrocks: I now know all about them and have them printed and decorated....ready to go!

We leave at least $2 per person per day (more if the room is in an unusual state of disarray) and always tip daily so the person who is actually cleaning the room that day will get the money.

We tip everyday. At WDW we usually get at least two different housekeepers. I'd hate for one housekeeper to get the tip that was also meant for the other too.

I love the pre-printed envelope idea. We used to always tip at the end of our stay. I guess we never thought about the fact that we may not have the same mousekeeper every day. Hope the right people got our tips! :goodvibes I think this year we are going to go with the tips in the envelopes every day and maybe add in a magnet or something from our home state... maybe we'll finally get a towel animal this year

Wow! The housekeepers must LOVE us as DH has been tipping $10/day just for the four of us! :goodvibes I think I need to talk with him before our next trip!

We usually leave $2 / day, and there's two of us and we're very, very neat (occasionally more, if we've gotten to know the person, or they left towel animals, or did something extra). Other Disney staff have told me that Housekeeping is not considered a "tipping position" at WDW, but my rationale is that I would never want to be a housekeeper and clean bathrooms, so I leave a tip. My dear aunt, who is very special to me, worked as a housekeeping in a motel, and she had some unpleasant cleaning to do at times. I truly appreciate what they do.

(I used to leave the $$$ at the end of the trip, but now try to do it daily)

Hi, we tip about $4.00 - $5.00 per day for a family of 5, depending on the mess. For the most part we try to leave things in order. What about when you call for bedrails (we've tipped about $2.00 for this) or extra towels? :confused3

That's VERY generous!! Funny thing is, with me being in the early stages of planning another trip to Disneyland for next summer, I'm planning on tipping the maid $10 a day too just to be generous. I think about how hard they work and the low hourly wage they earn. :sunny:

We usually leave a $5 tip for our family of 5, but for our upcomming trip we will have connecting rooms at POP. So, should I leave a tip in each room just in case for some odd reason we would have two seperate mousekeepers.

Also, there have been times when I have left a little extra tip with a note asking for extra towels or coffee and have always been taken care of.

We were at CBR about 3 weeks ago and tip the mousekeeper about $ 3.00 a day for two people and there was no spit on the pillows.:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:So $2.00 is fine.

Staying at CBR, not sure if it matters. ???

Tips are not required or expected for mousekeepers! :3dglasses

I've always tipped $5 per day. But we have two rooms. It's all neat adults though. Next trip I'll have twin 13 yr. old boys with me. I'll probably up the tip for that trip.

They dont spit on your pillow, they do things to your toothbrush! :rotfl2:

I think my tooth brush will be in the wall safe along with my envelopes. I want to be safe incase I didn't tip enough ;)
