Irritations While Out Shopping Yesterday

Don't forget to start putting it away and/or reorganizing your purse in fron of the cc machine!;)

LOL..Ugh, just the thought of it all makes me yearn for when Publix used to deliver!

I am a BIG coupon user and I hate it when the cashier says "Did you REALLY buy this item?" "Is this a REAL coupon?" Ugh - if you are going to accuse me of coupon fraud, just come out and say it! I have shopped at the same grocery store for over 15 years & one time I went to the manager and complained about the cashier. He apologized and said "That's OK Mrs. Disfan1. If you ever used a bad coupon, we can catch up to you next time you come in!" :rotfl:

Everytime I go grocery shopping the cashier often scans my cereal box and says "Oh I love this cereal, what aisle did you find this??" :lmao:
:rotfl:

I hate that too. I just grab my reciept and shove it anywhere in my purse or pocket. I end up forgetting about it but its always a nice surprise when I find that $20 cash I got back crunched up in the reciept a week later :)

May I suggest that its best not to let minor irritations from the previous day continue to haunt you?

:confused3 Our store just scans the coupon and if I didn't buy the right item, it won't give the coupon credit.

That's what I'm thinking. We get a few of the cashiers ask questions about things we buy, mostly because we pretty much only buy organics and they ask questions about them, if we like the taste, do we find a difference in quality, etc.

My favorite was the guy on the cell phone who just stood in the checkout lane jabbering with someone. He stood there and stood there... and I finally asked him if he intended to let anyone else check out. He looked at me with surprise and moved on.

People can be so oblivious to everything sometimes!

Yes it would be rude to bump the person in front of you, but surely it was an accident!

I really think it is inconsiderate to leave your basket behind you while you stand at the end of the conveyer belt to complete your transaction. Please put your basket in front of you and move to the end of the counter! That gives the next person a chance to unload and be ready to check out.

I hate the whole grocery store experience. I try to be patient in the checkout line but I swear I never get the easy line...it's always someone that waits until they are told the total to pull out a checkbook, look for that coupon they swore was just in their hand, or dig around in their hefty bag sized purse that I swear Jimmy Hoffa will be found in to find the exact correct change because God forbid they can't break that one extra dollar. :confused3:rotfl:

My big peeve are the people who decide to park their carts and socialize in the aisles oblivious to the fact they are blocking everything. Or the people that are too lazy to put their carts in the "corral" and just leave them parked where their car was. I can't tell you how many times I have come out to find a cart wedged against my car.

The deli counter is another one...I'm always behind the person in line who waits until they are called next to decide what they want. You've been standing in front of this deli counter with everything on display in front of you for 10 minutes and you haven't decided yet?!! :scared1::headache:

The person who leaves their cart in the middle of the frickin' aisle and then walks 50 feet down the aisle to look at something....take it with you...it has wheels!!!

I guess I have a few issues with the grocery store.

You must be my long lost twin!

I am a grocery store cashier and sometimes ask this. Our computer system does not always have every coupon entered correctly, so sometimes the computer won't accept it. Instead of just telling the customer its bad, I will sometimes ask if they got the exact brand and quantity. Sometimes customers will put a coupon in the pile and then forget they did not get that brand or item. I guess I could just look through the entire huge receipt instead of asking, but asking is usually quicker.

Oh Lordy, the deli ! Who mentioned the deli?! I...will.....sit...on...my....hands........ So much to say LOL!

All good points! My gosh. It's amazing the many ways people can be inconsiderate. The socializing, ugh. And not moving over enough when they "know" you need to get by. Like people that stand in the middle of an aisle contemplating products and see that you are coming, and inch forward a half-baby step. Uh, do you really think I can get by you? I say excuse me, but it's not what I'm thinking. :headache:

My biggest pet peeve of all time is when I'm checking out using the self checker and people can't wait for me to load the things I've paid for!! They scan their stuff and send their items down the belt to crash into my stuff. Oh that grates me like nothing else. I did ask a lady once if those items were gifts. And gave her the, did you just land on earth look. She got the message and walked around to get her stuff. (It's happened a few times!)

I know it was hard to express in my post, but what gets to me is the WAY the cashier asks. Using a friendly vs. accusing tone really makes a difference in how I feel about questions about my coupons. :)

If someone bumped me, I'd take my time. I'd say "Oh, are you sure that is the correct price? I thought it was on sale. Well, I'm not sure I want it if that is how much it costs.. *wait on someone to go check price* really, that is how much it is? Weelllll.. ok." and I'd do it with 10 items just to draw it all out.

Oh, and I'd write a check. And I'd wait until the cashier finished scanning everything to look for my checkbook in the mess that is my purse (I'm usually one of those people who throw things in and go.. I've found my debit card in the diaper bag before, I just toss stuff wherever!!) and I'd write really slowly and maybe write the wrong amount. My checks are free! Might as well start over with a new check! ;)

Not all the stores here are that "advanced"... I went to a smaller chain of grocery store yesterday and bought Progresso Soup (on sale 10/$10). I had the $1.10/3 coupons from SmartSource.com... the cashier unpacked my bags and counted the cans of soup 5 times to make sure I bought 3 per coupon. :rotfl:

As far as unloading your cart from the front and leaving the cart between you and the person behind you, sometimes it's just how it happens. I find myself in this situation alot....I go to the store by myself, have a whole cart full of groceries and no one in line so as fast as I am putting my stuff on the belt the cashier is taking it away. So I end up scrambling to get my stuff up there and then I don't have my debit card out and ready because I was putting all my stuff on the belt. So not only do I have my cart between myself and you, but I also do not have my payment ready. Ooops! Now if you bumped me with your cart you would certainly get an earful from me! How can one be so rude! There are no grocery store rules, why should someone do it "your" way?? Unbelievable!

I do have one store pet peeve....but it's for any store that has self checkout. I thought the purpose of these was to check out faster? I hate when someone decides that they should use self checkout for a whole cart full of stuff! I mean over flowing! There is no way that is quick!!
