Thought of this thread when I went food shopping this morning. I was unloading my cart onto the checkout counter, conveyor belt moving my items forward. The lady behind me is huffing and puffing. I guess I unload too slowly for her. She takes the divider thing, slaps it down and starts taking her food out. Great, except I STILL had food in the cart. So the conveyor belt moves and soon the counter is filled with her food. I told the cashier that I still had some items in my cart, the lady behind me probably didn't notice I had them. Lady says, "I saw them, just trying to speed you up."Then she laughs. All I could do was shake my head.
Can't believe the rudeness out there.
Ok got to admit I didn't read all the post but my pet peeve is when you start bagging your stuff and the person in back of you has like 4 iteams so the have stepped up to the cashier. The cashier then tells you they have your total and the person behind is stand right in front of them and then refuses to move. You can't get the swiper to swipe your debit card or even reach the cashier if you have a check or God forbid cash. I swear the next time I'm going to ask "Oh are you going to pay for mine?"

That's the moment I would have said....
"could you hold on a moment please, I forgot something".
I'd say excuse me to the rude woman behind you--then go the long way to customer service and request the manager.
I would explain to the manager that I noticed this awful thing that he might want to check out--and escort him back to the register. I would then explain that I noticed that the customer behind me and his employee seemed to not like the manner in which I unload my grocery cart. I would then explain that if their store doesn't like the speed at which their customers unload, then they might wish to hire extra help. I understand that the cashiers get "scored" on their scan speed, but I'm not at all interested in improving her score while compromising the service I received and being spoken to in such a disrespectful manner.
All this of course to annoy all those around me.
Geesh!
I've worked in cashiering, my scan speed wasn't lightening speed and it always irritated me that they wanted faster faster faster--but I'll be darned if I'm going to talk down to a customer and suggest that they are too slow.
It ain't Supermarket Sweep for goodness sakes!
Why would you involve the cashier. .
Two things that annoy me
1) Someone leaves their cart in a checkout line to hold their place in the checkout line, while they continue to do more shopping.
2) an express lane 5 customers deep, and the front customer initiates small talk with the cashier, meanwhile Im in a hurry and trying to get the F outta there.
Why would you involve the cashier. The poster didn't say anything about the cashier doing anything or trying to rush the poster. It sounded like it was just
the woman behind her. Really, you would go this this extreme over some woman who is in a rush? I would just ignore it, pay and get out of there.
Wow, I can't believe this thread is still going!
So many seem to think I purposely shoved the woman's cart into her. I did not do that. I would never take a cart by the handle and shove it into someone. I was unloading my groceries as best as I could with her cart in the way, and in doing so it bumped her slightly. She was not still unloading her groceries. I never said she was too slow. I am not a huffing and puffing type person who gets upset when someone in line ahead of me is slow. In fact I am just the opposite. People behind me may be huffing and puffing but I just laugh at them (inwardly, of course) like that is really going to speed things up. But to be completely finished unloading your groceries and then not bother to move your cart out of the way is rude to the person behind you.
And at first I had left a large gap between the woman's groceries when I started putting my own on the belt. I couldn't reach the plastic bar that you put between customer's items. But then the cashier pushed the button to move the belt up, so that is when her cart bumped her. I was trying to keep up with the moving belt. So really, it's all the cashier's fault!
Carry on, folks!![]()
Any line to check out, it's annoying! I don't mind waiting my turn, but don't prolong it!
People on the cell phone while checking out, drives me insane! It slows everything down. Can't you do without the phone until you have checked out?
