Iron Chef Redemption?

I'm sorry that Falkner left, too. I was kinda hoping for an all-female final three. Well, at least it can still happen with the final two!

So am I - I really like Alex. I think the fact that Alex was Zakarian's sous chef indicates that they are grooming her for Iron Chef. It's different than Anne Burrell's situation - she became a Food Network star after being Batali's sous chef. Alex is already a Food Network star, and didn't become a sous chef until last year.

Neither Spike nor Marcel have any business being on this show. They are young and untested, and have lost every competition they've been in. :stir: And Marcel isn't seeking "redemption"; he's new!

What Mehta and Appleman and some of the others seem to forget is that this is not a straight cooking show like Top Chef. It's also an audition for a TELEVISION show. They have to select someone that people will watch. They made that mistake one year when they selected Marc Forgione; his ratings are low. They're not going to choose Mehta, no matter how well he cooks, because he's not watchable.

(Of course, last year I thought Alex or another woman would win - I was convinced it would be Falkner over Zacharian - so that shows you how much my opinion is worth! :lmao:)

That's a good point about being watchable. I won't usually watch if Moritomo (sp?) is the Iron Chef. He just doesn't interest me. Now if Amanda wins, I'll be watching every time.

Morimoto? Anytime he's on, I'll either watch or record. His skills are amazing to me. :cool1:
Marc Forgione, on the other hand, big yawn. :rotfl:
I wouldn't mind Amanda or Alex. Fingers crossed it's one of them. :thumbsup2

I am glad that Falkner went home. I hated her attitude. She was on several of the Food Network Challenges and had the same type of I'm better than everyone attitude, even with the judges. It was just really off-putting. It is one thing to be confident in what you do, but she didn't seem to respect the ability of others. I don't like Mehta for that same reason.

I am hoping for either Alex or Amanda. Both seem to excel at what they do, but are respectful and supportive of their competitors.

I am so glad Alex wasn't in the bottom, I really thought she blew the "risk" of the challenge and they would send her home for that. I have a feeling Cherf Faulkner being in the bottom was totally planned, and I am sorry to see her go over Appleman. I can't stand him.

Faulkner looked completely stunned that she was gone. That challenge is cursed! I wish they'd showed her saying how she decided whose name to write down.

I still can't stand Mehta and thought it was funny that he told the judges that as soon as he saw the ostrich eggs he knew he had to have them. Yeah, because is was the second-to-last item and he hadn't bothered with any of the others!

That foam that Appleman made - :crazy2:

Appleman and Mehta have got to go. No way would I watch either on Iron Chef...too creepy.

HAS to be Alex or Amanda.......as long as they watch that saffron!

I was happy Faulkner went home, I've never liked her.

I'm hoping for either Alex or Amanda to win, if neither of them then Appleman.

I really like Chef Guarnaschelli. I would love to hang out with her, drink some wine and have her teach me some tricks of the trade, but I think Chef Faulkner is more Iron Chef material.
I was a Chef Freitag fan the last season that she was on. But after being at a cooking demo with Chef Guarneschelli earlier this year, she is my favorite. I really hope one of them wins!

Mehta reminds me of a James Bond villain. He could take up acting.

Sorry to see Faulkner crash and burn. I think I'd like Alex to win it this time.

Morimoto rocks!

I thought Chef Faulkner would have made the best Iron Chef. Oddly enough, I'm starting to actually like Marcel and I hated him as a Top Chef cheftestant. I can't see him being an Iron Chef, though - if for no other reason than I want to poke my eardrums out every time he does any interview stuff.

Of the remaining chefs, I can see Chef Freitag being somewhat fun to watch, but I'm still not convinced of her cooking ability. Chef Guarneschelli has the cooking chops, but more as a sous chef (in the background) than the featured chef. Chef Appleman is a great chef, but has no personality. And I can't stand Chef Mehta whatsoever.

So I guess I'm rooting for Chef Freitag.

:sad1: Boo! I really wanted Faulkner to win this time. She was crushed and so were all the judges. Now, I'm either for Alex or someone quirky. I think most of the Iron Chefs are boring, except Symon and Cat Cora. We need some personality besides Alton Brown and the guy with the horrible line of beard down his chin-makes me laugh thinking about it!!:lmao: The Chairman is an actor who also plays WoFat in Hawaii 5-0, so I know he could add some life. Most of the men who are left are little Naploeans like Geoffrey Zahkarian. He's an uptight, control freak and watching him cook is boring although I'm sure it's good.

Zakarian also blew the parameters of one challenge (I think it was making ballpark food?) and still won.

Not a spoiler, completely a guess: I think the Final Two will be Amanda and Alex. They really, really need a female Iron Chef.

Mehta reminds me of a James Bond villain. He could take up acting.

Morimoto rocks!

I totally agree. I've been thinking that Mehta has the perfect voice to play a villain in an animated show/movie.

Appleman has shark eyes. He was rude and dirty in his previous attempt to win Iron Chef. He seems to have toned that persona down so far.

Marcel needs to go.

I'm rooting for Alex, then Amanda.

I like her, too. And I thought it was really unfair that her first challenger as Iron Chef was another Iron Chef! Just like for all the other new Iron Chefs, it should have been someone not familiar with Kitchen Stadium.

Well, she did OK anyway.
