So at 89 days, I thought I should start my pre trip planning

My Disney trip is part of a longer California vacation. I arrive in California on June 21 and my trip is in 3 parts.

Part 1
Visit with a friend in North California
I will overnight at a hotel near LAX and get a flight the next morning to where my friend lives. This will be my first time to visit her home, before this she came to LA and we met up there. I can't wait to see her as its been 2 years since we have seen each other

Part 2
Central La, -sightseeing, shopping and visiting a friend
Return to LA on June 24 and stay in a hotel in Downtown LA. Usually I stay in Santa Monica but this year I decided to stay in a new area. I have been to Downtown in previous years so I know the area. The plan is to meet a friend who lives in central LA on her day off and hang out. On the other days I plan to explore Downtown, go shopping, and of course go to Hollywood Boulevard.

Part 3
Disney and Anaheim with a friend
On June 28 I will over to Anaheim, check into my hotel and meet my friend who lives there. Last year we just went to Downtown Disney and had something to eat, so we will probably do the same this year. Then its 2 full days in the parks before I head back to LAX on July 1 and fly home.

I don't drive so I will be using public transport mostly. On my first night in LA I will be staying in a hotel which has a free shuttle to LAX.

When I arrive back in LA I will get http://www.supershuttle.com/ from the airport to my hotel in Downtown.

To get from Downtown to Hollywood I will get a bus, Route 4 on Metro Bus

To get from my hotel to Anaheim I will use Supershuttle and to get from Anaheim back to LAX, yep its Suppershuttle again :)

So far I have just booked my transatlantic flights, I plan to start booking hotels and the internatl flights in the next few weeks. I need to contact my friends aswell and make sure they know all my travel plans :)

That's a lot of travelling around but I do the same thing when I travel abroad. Have you considered the metro/train instead of the bus for your trip from Downtown to Hollywood? You might also consider that for your trip from airport to your hotel in downtown. Of course if you have a lot of luggage you might want to stick with using supershuttle. Have fun planning the rest of your trip/vacation.

thanks @ludari I will look into the metro train, always looking for new things to try. I know is alot of travelling around, but thats just the way things worked out this year. Last year was kinda the same, I did 2 days in New Orleans and then back to LA :) I guess cos I only go once a year and its so far, I try to cram in as much as possible

***updates April 26 ***

my itinerary is finally coming together, and there have been some small changes

I have now booked my first night hotel at LAX. I arrive in California too late to get a domestic flight to visit my friend soI am staying my first night at a hotel near LAX.

I have booked my flight to visit my friend in North California. We are driving back to LA, road trip time :) She has done the journey many times but this will be my first time in a car from North California to LA

I have also booked our hotel in Downtown LA for 4 days and then we head across town to Anaheim.

I wasn't expecting my friend to join me in LA so thats an added bonus. I just need to coordinate schedules with my LA friend as she will be meeting us on her day off.

My itinerary now looks like

June 21
Arrive LAX, check in to nearby hotel

June 22
Fly to North California

June 24
Drive from North California to Downtown LA

June 25, 26, 27
Shopping, Sight seeing in Hollywood, Downtown LA

June 28
Travel to Anaheim

June 29, 30
Disneyland

July 1
Leave California

July 2
Arrive home in Ireland

As my friend is now joining me in LA, I don't have to worry about transport. Now I just have to book things like ADR , plan my shopping sightseeing in LA, update my ESTA and arrange transport from and to LAX on my first night. The hotel I am staying at provide free transport to LAX but you need to let them know what time you want to be picked up.
