Ipods?

The Aldi's add is only good thru October 15th. I took the ad to WalMart today and they gave me some spill about the ones from Aldi's are probably refurbished, they are not. Then they tried to tell me that it was too much of a price difference. They are the exact same one at Walmart that Aldi's had. After returning home I called Walmarts customer service Corporate number and asked them what their price matching policy was. End of story is I now have my my first Christmas present bought from Walmart for $59.99. Don't let Walmart not follow through with their policy that they match any competitors add.   10 more days till we are back at the world!!!!!!

I'd go with the iPod mini. The shuffle only holds 100 to 150 songs and that's not many. The nano holds 1000, but for the extra $$ it's worth the mini. I have the 20gb which holds 5000 songs and I use it almost daily and love it. We had friends that purchased their daughter something other than iPod and she didn't want it, because all her friends had iPods. Well they just bought her the iPod mini so they wasted the first $$ on the other.
The iPod is very easy to use. You can load songs from your personal cd's and purchase from itunes for .99 each song.

I also forgot,if you order online from apple they will personalize it free. Mine has my name engraved on the back. That why she will know which is hers. The mini also comes in few different colors.

but can the IPOD mini still be ordered from the apple website....
I had understood it that this product line was discontinued ??? is this not correct ?? if it is.. wonder why... its such a money making item.

You can only order the mini online from the education store. If you know someone is education, then they should be able to get it for you. I am a pt teachers aide and I just ordered one for my 9yr old for Christmas.

The Tinkerbell MP3 player is under Disney Toys (do a search) at Best Buy. It will say "available or coming soon".

I really have no opinion of MP3 players vs. I-Pods. But I have read about alot of I-Pod users wouldn't go back to an MP3 player for various reasons, easier to use, music load capability etc.

My son paid for his MP3 player and wasn't hard to learn how to use at all. He is very impatient-if there's an electronic out there he wants he finds a job to pay for it. At least he's motivated. But now I'm thinking of getting little sister one for Chistmas and I know I'll hear- "I had to buy mine"! :confused3 What to do?

I just got my Disney catalog in the mail yesterday. They have the Tinkerbell, Mickey and one other (can't remember the character) MP3 players in there for $49.99 each. I'm very tempted to get one for DD since she asked for an iPod this year. I don't want to spend the $$ on the iPod for her since she is just turing 9 next month and I would freak if she lost it - the $49.99 is easier to swallow. I bet Disney catalog online would have these also.

Disney Direct sure does have them online also - I am really considering a Mickey one for DS and Tink for DD. I think that Best Buy will also be carrying these. :cool1:

Edited to add that I checked Best Buy and could only find the Tinkerbell one for preorder there - same price as DisneyDirect

Edited again to add that I did a search for the Disney Mix Sticks and I found several articles saying that these would also be availible at Walmart, Target, Sears and Limited Too. I'll be keeping my eyes open for these.

Where are you finding the Mini to buy? :confused3 I feel like I have clicked every button possible through the education site. lol
Any help please?

DD9 also said she wanted one. Had no clue :confused3 and this thread has been priceless. Clear a few things up for me please?

1. The Disney Catalog ones are MP3 players for 49.99.

2. Aldi has the ipod for 59.99 thru the 15th, and you can get it at Walmart if aldi runs out.

If you can (and I realize not everyone is close to an Aldi), your better bet would be to spend 10 more dollars for the ipod? (which is probably "cooler" in the long run)

What is the difference between MP3 and the ipod? Are they the same things or different? Is it like comparing a DVD player to a VCR? Both do the same things, just a little different with way different quality? OR are they the same quality, just different manufacturers?

Thanks

I dont mean to ask a dumb question.. but what exactly is an ipod?? both of my children announced tonight they want one for Christmas.. I guess this is the thing that all the kinds want huh?? Is it just to play songs on?

I announced to DH that he's getting me the new 60G iPod w/ video for my b-day next month.

I will use it to back up my computer, store photos (take to WDW and unload my memory card there without lugging my whole laptop), download a few videos for DDs to watch on the plane (Raven, Suite Life, Pixar), and whatever songs suit my fancy...in that order. It's $400, but to have all of that memory, that's pretty darned cheap, not to mention NEVER having to hear DH gripe at me that I *might* scratch up a CD if I play it in the car.

I had just said to my Dad on Tuesday that I wish the iPod played video and he said (he's a telecom prof), "Won't be long and they will" ding, ding, ding!!!

What's the difference between 4th generation and 5th generation iPod?
There's a 20 GB 4th generation for $239 and a 5th generation for $244.

I have the ipod mini. I think I'd like to get one of the newer ipods. I'm not sure which to go with though 30gb or 60gb. I like the fact that I can add pictures and video to it. I only have around 200 songs on my mini. But, I might want to add audiobooks too. When they say that the new ipod has 150 hours of video, do they mean both of the ipods have 150 hours or just the more expensive one. Or does one have 150 hours and the other like half that?

I got 2 of the Aldi's iPods and then 1 at Walmart (matching the ad, Aldi's would only allow me to buy two of them). If you want to give Aldi's a try, here is their website and you can see where the stores are located:

http://aldi.us/

From the other thread it sounds like not all of the Aldi's have the $59.99 iPods, but it is worth a try. That is the best price I have seen.

I just looked at my three iPods (2 Aldi's and 1 Walmart) and I can not tell the difference between the three of them. Maybe some Walmarts have different ones, but the one I got is the same as the ones I got at Aldi's.

As for MP3 players, DH and I both bought one at Target on clearance for $32 and we love them. I use mine on my walks and he uses his while mowing. They still had some of these left last week at the Target in the town about 1/2 hour away from us. You could check with them if you want to see if you can get one for a lesser price. It was shaped like an apple or orange slice (so I like the iPod shuffle shape better--but hey, it was only $32).

Would the ipod video/photo be good for exercising? I heard from someone that the ipod video/photo doesn't like a lot of movement. I haven't had that problem with my mini though. But, I thought I'd ask.
