iPod Touch?

Can someone give me a quick iPod Touch 101?! My daughter's birthday is coming up, and she is constantly "borrowing" my iPhone to play her games and use the camera/video.

Is a Touch pretty much just an iPhone without the phone? Can you get the same apps as an iPhone and do you need a service plan to use them?

Yes, an I touch is pretty much an Iphone with out the phone. No, you don't have a monthly service fee. Keep in mind though that the Touch is wi-fi, not 3G so you do have to be near an internet source to use the internet, download stuff, etc.

Thanks! Sounds like that would work for what she uses it for. Do you happen to know if all the models have camera and video or just the newer ones?

Just the newer ones. I just sold my gen. 2 when I got an iPhone a few months ago and it did not have a camera and video.

There are a few apps that won't always work because they need to be connected to the internet (like Twitter, or a Map application) but for most games, it works identical.

I loved my iPod Touch...which led me to get the iPhone....which led me to get an iPad. It's like a gateway drug.

Not sure how old your dd is but my 9 year old got one and I was concerned with her having internet access in her pocket so I removed the Safari (web broser) app. She can play all the games, check email and calendar but just can't surf the web.

LOL, I completely know what you mean! I went straight for the hard stuff and got an iPhone and now I'm lost without it! Now I'm "jonsing" for an iPad but I'm trying hard to resist!
