Does the packaging on the refurbed touches say "refurbished" on it? I bought a refurbed video camera from Kodak and it had big bold letters "REFURBISHED" all over it. I didn't mind, it was for me and it works great but if I buy an iTouch it will be a gift. I wouldn't want to give a gift, even to a younger kid, in packaging like that. I hear the refurbed ones are in great shape, there's no need to advertise that they are used

I doubt my son would care, he just wants an iTouch, but I'd prefer it just say iPod, ya know?

I haven't purchased a refurb since 2 Christmas's ago so it may have changed since then, and they were nanos, not touches.
The ipods came in a white box that said iPod in large letters on the front. On the top (facing away from you if you set it on the table in front of you) it says Apple Certified Refurbished (about the same size as this font).
My dses never even noticed when they opened them.

Also, for anyone wondering on the sticker with the part and model # it says "assembled in China"

Best Buy has the 4th gen for $159.99 with free shipping, today and tomorrow only.

Just an FYI -- this price is for the 8gb version, not the 16gb (w/gift card) that most places have on sale next Friday.

I was going to get this when I thought it was the 16gb version, but now guess I'll wait and take my chances next week.

Thank you thank you thank you! I had no idea you could get refurbished ipod touches! I originally wanted to get two ipod touches for each of my kids for Christmas. Amazon was selling the 4th gen. 16gb for $195 and I thought hey, that's not too bad. Then I read this thread! I just now bought two refurbished ipod touches 4th gen. 32 gb for only $179. It comes with the same warranty as the new ipods (one year) and earphones. My kids will freak on Christmas morning . They are going to love it!

back on topic now- I am deciding between the refurb ipod touch 4 32 G vs. the new 5 for DS10. It is a fair amount of price difference but the 4 is already 2 years old and that retina display is nice. sigh

I had full intentions of purchasing a 4th generation for DS11 and there are deals out there for that series...then I thought why not pay the extra to get the latest due to the fact that he takes such great care of his electronics and such.
We got him a 3rd generation ITouch (8 gig) when he was 7 and it still looks new. It just does not hold a charge well anymore, turns on when no one is touching it, and cannot upgrade software-wise in order watch HD movies nor play many of the new apps. And the 5th gen has Siri - I know he will love that feature. To me it's like an IPhone without the phone capabilities (and no 4G network, lol).


I'm hoping the Apple site has some type of deal on BF or cyber-Monday since I can get one engraved for "free" on the site. If not I'm leaning toward Amazon since at least there is free shipping and no tax charged (in MA anyway).

I'm not a Jane Austen fan but my sister's name is Marianne Dashwood and we live in the English countryside and I'm in love with a man named Edward who is secretly engaged to this hag named Lucy Steele...

I went with the 4th gen. as I want to be sure they can take good care of them before I sink money into the latest gen. Well that, and I'm kinda cheap too.

That's what I was told too, which probably shuts me out because I'm just not willing to contend with that level of crazy... People will be camping out at our Best Buy starting Weds I'm sure so I'd have about zero chance of getting one by showing up on Friday.

I am a silver rewards member and as a silver member we can get some black friday deals on Monday with a preview today this only online they are offering the $50 gift card not sure if it will be the same on Friday but I would think it will

I just saw an ad for a 4th gen. 16gb for $195 w/ a $40 gift card at Target. Does anyone know if this is only at the store? I need to order online and am wondering if I can get the same deal.
