I know that apple designates the price but sometimes stores will offer like an itunes gift card with purchase. Anyone know of any deals this week? THANKS it's for my daughter so I would love to get her the best deal!

Target was offering a $25 gift card with the 8gb this week. I got mine at Costco, and while I don't remember the price, it was much cheaper than any price I have seen in the stores.

We paid $369 yesterday at Best Buy, they actually price matched Amazon.com! I was shocked. Oh, this is for the 32 gig one, which I would recommend since you cannot upgrade memory.

did you consider a refurb on the apple website? The warranty is the same but the savings are BIG!

I only found 1st generation ones on Apples site and I prefer the 2nd generation one. Good suggestion though.

Just thought I would let everyone know I just picked one up at Sams. Thanks to the poster who suggested Costco. I called them and got their price then that made me think of Sams. They had the cheapest price and they are close by so I went and picked one up. Thanks again!

I can't post links, but Apple Store does have the refurbed current gen of Ipod Touch, for $349.

My husband loves his first gen that we bought, as a refurb. Same great warranty. They do have smaller, but if your daughter will continue to use hers, larger is better.=)

I don't mind at all! We just got her the 8gb for $214.72. She is only 10 years old so I didn't want to invest anymore than that in one for her. This does everything she "needs".

bhoffman, thats what I'd get for her at that age too. My daughter is graduating high school & going off to college, and the whole campus is wireless. She's on cloud 9 with the itouch, and to think I was going to get her pearls or a hope chest...

I bought a used one off of Ebay (reputable seller) and I have been very pleased with it. I bought it about 18 months ago for about $200.

Hey, I am kind of hijacking here but I have a question. We are thinking about buying these for our kids instead of portable DVD players. My husband and I both have iphones so the kids know how to use them. We already own the conversion software to convert our DVDs.

I am almost afraid to post their ages because I will probably get flamed, but they are 8 and 5. My thought was that the ipod touch would be more fun than the portable DVD players, and more compact. Plus, we could download some audio books and music for them.

Is there any reason why this is a bad idea? I am not really concerned with the durability issue because they play with our phones all the time. We will probably get a protective case for each. They aren't going to be carrying them around listening to music or watching movies. They will use them in the car primarily.

I want to buy them with the deal at Target this week. That sounds like the best deal for us, we don't have a Costco or Sam's membership.

I wouldn't feel bad at all getting them one. I have the ipod touch and the iphone. I had the touch first and just LOVE it. I have two boys aged 10 and 8 and they play with the touch all the time. They also LOVE it.

Go for it. It's a nice gift so I would suggest getting screen and case protectors for them. You can find some nice ones on ebay at a good price.

Thanks,
Leslie

I looked up the Target deal and it must have been last week because it is not in their ad or on their web site, at least not in Michigan.

Not sure where you live in Michigan, but the iPod deal is listed on page 23 of the Ann Arbor weekly ad. I didn't check any other cities.

You realize that iPod Touch has no web filtering as a Parental Control?

Do you want your kids to have unrestricted access to the Web?

My apologies! It is in the Target ad, I completely missed it! Sorry!

My daughter is not going to have the web on or texting.

Safari and web access are enabled by default, and any open WiFi routers will allow access even if you don't have WiFi at home. Just sayin' that it's wide open unless you configure it otherwise.

That is a good point. At this point, they never get on the Internet on our iPhones, so I hadn't really thought about that. I will have to consider that aspect.
