Just a heads up that www.1saleaday.com has some iPod shuffles on sale right now. They have five different colors available. I just got one for my aunt for Christmas since she keeps saying she wants to try one. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much! Last November we got my teenage son an ITouch for his birthday. It was stolen a few months later at school. Maybe someday he'll remember to lock his gym locker. This Shuffle will work just fine for him to listen to his music.:thumbsup2

THanks! In for one! Is this appropriate for a 7 year old? Her older sister has one and she is dancing to music all the time!

my 11 y.o. ds really wants an itouch...we can't afford it. Maybe I should get him this instead?

Thanks! Just saved our school some $$ and bought a few for walk a thon prizes!

If your dd wants a touch its probably because it can do alot more than just play music. All the shuffle does is music so I would ask her first before you buy it. I know my dd would not want a shuffle if she was asking for a touch.

I don't know what your budget is but I got my 2 dses refurbished nanos (previous generation) for $100. They play music, video and have a video camera. That may be an option instead of a touch. Although the refurbished previous generation touches are $149 at apple.

Thanks OP, I think I'm going to grab one to keep in my car.

Thanks! Just grabbed one for DH for Christmas. He's a runner and when he ends up running at night he'll go run at the track instead of running on the roads (I'm spastic that he'll get hit). So doing 4+ miles on the track gets pretty boring. He won't take my ipod because there's too much stuff on it that he doesn't like, lol.

I would love to find the newest iPod Touch (4th generation) at a great price, but I doubt that will happen for a while.

Might be able to pick up an older model (new or used) as they drop in price or as people upgrade.

Just an FYI, we bought DD(7) a shuffle last X-mas. She loved it at first, but then hated the fact she had to skip through forever to find the song she wanted. She inherited my old ipod nano when I got a new one. She likes it a lot better b/c she can see the song and find the song she wants. Of course, now she wants one that plays videos, etc. which will not be happening anytime soon.

So, I would only buy the shuffle if you think your child will not care about finding the songs they want, etc.

I would say it is a great starter IPOD, but you might be better off spending the $ and buying a refurbished nano where they can at least control what they are listening to.

Just my two cents..........

Ugh, I bought this for dd and the reviews on Amazon are not good. The buttons are on the headphones which make it difficult to control. Ugh, such an impulse buy. Maybe I can put it on craigslist or something.

Did you see the link for $47? I thought that was pretty good for newest model.
