IPOD or Kindle or What?

When we travel, we load movies on old IPhones for DS and DD...these IPhones literally can handle like 5 movies and that's it, I think they are "first generation" or something.

They are starting to lose their ability to hold a charge.

So I'm thinking maybe Santa will bring a new movie-watching-thing this Christmas. But what?

I am not tech savvy. My kids don't need phones and we certainly are not looking to buy IPads. I am pretty sure DH has the almost-newest IPhone and if I leave this up to him, he'll end up buying something very expensive and probably more than they need.

What do you all recommend? Just want to watch movies on it, maybe a game or two. Internet not necessary. (Not a DVD player, we've done that already, want something small, size of an IPhone)

Help?

It sounds like you are going to be interested in a device which has some sort of large onboard or expandable memory. That pretty much negates the Kindle HD, although it has a really nice screen and price.

The new iPAD mini is going to have the same limitations as your current device, not holding many movies.

I'm going to suggest you look at either the Nook Tablets or the Nook HD. You can check them out in the stores. The nice thing about these is they accept micro sd cards so you can expand the memory up and bring many more movies with you and not have to mess with the cloud storage and download methods.

The other option that comes to mind is the Nexus 7. Not quite as handy as the micro card slot of the Nooks but it does have a micro usb slot that you can buy an adapter for and utilize a card reader or usb memory device.

Note that these are all 7 inch devices, slightly larger than an iPhone but not as big as the iPAD.

I have a regular sized ipad and love it! we rent movies and they disappear after I watch them so I don't have to worry about space. My mom has the nook and loves that too!

I have the Kindle Fire, last years version. It already has 4 movies on it, plus lots of games and many books. If it fill up I will start deleting books that I have read as must of them were free.....My granddaughter is 9 and she loves my Fire. She's getting her own for Christmas. She can play Angry Birds, Uno, and she loves watching movies on it.....
