Has anyone tried this gadget out yet? I've heard that it hangs up when attempting to download a video file. Sure would be nice if it worked properly. I hate lugging a laptop on vacation.

It's pretty slow and highly tempremental. I was hoping for something usable but so far I have been pretty disappointed. If someone doesn't come out with something usable pretty soon, I may resort to buying something like the Epson P-2000 or P-4000. I've resisted buying something that seems so one dimensional or uni-task but it would beat having to take a laptop out into the field.

I was looking into one of those for my upcoming overseas trip, but from the reviews on the Apple website, it sounds like it's a real pain in the neck. Instead, I purchased new CF cards (2 2Gig cards), figuring I could shoot JPGs and have way more than enough space, so I wouldn't have to bring my laptop to download for the 10 days of the trip. Plus I needed new cards for my motorsport shooting, so it was the best option for me.

I borrowed my cousin's iPod Photo and borrowed an iPod camera connector from my friend's store (she asked me to try it out). OMG, I feel like throwing that thing and stomping it over and over again to tiny bits. VERY SLOW and extremely temperamental. If you already have an iPod, I guess it's okay, but I also want to use it for work and I can't have temperamental anything at work. The photo models and/or their agents are temperamental enough.

I was afraid it was too good to be true. If it was just slow downloading, that would be OK, as long as it worked, but it doesn't sound as if works all that well. Thanks for the input.

I used one for a trip last fall to Italy. It was slow, but it did what I need it to do. MUCH lighter to carry than a computer. I did not lose any photos, which was obviously my main concern.

I'll bring it with me to WDW in a few weeks. Probably won't be taking as many photos though...but you never know!
