Hey everyone...

I have an iPad and am getting an Archos 101 (tablet PC, running Android). I want to take one or both into Disney with me.. The idea is to tether it to my phone and use Google maps, I have everything tagged in a map for navigation.. I also have all my tickets, receipts etc on line in drop box.. Plus a few apps marked for either device, like e-ticket for the i-pad..

I have backup batteries for all my devices, small and light ones.. My question is in 2 parts..

1 - Do you take your bags on the ride with you?? if not how secure are they..?? (BTW my bag is water proof, well to the extent if it gets splashed the items inside will be dry.. )

2 - Is there outlets accessible by the public in the restaurants / public areas?? i was hoping to charge my device while we eat..

OK 3 i lied --- am i crazy?? :flower3: the devices are lighter then a book and holds more information..

You can take these stored in your backpack on ALL attractions without an issue.

You may be able to locate a charging plug somewhere in the park , but wouldn't count on it... and how long do you plan on being in one place that you could get a decent charge?!

You aren't crazy.. i did the same thing..

First, let me start by saying I LOVE MY iPad. I love having information at Disney too. But, I don't think I would take it with me into the Park. That place can be crazy and you would have to constantly stop to look at it while moving out of traffic. Even if it didn't get stolen, I just don't think it will be practical. For what it is worth -

Enjoy yourself

You are crazy.

In some of the quick service restaurants I know where there are outlets where I can charge my ECV. But I have the key out and it cannot be carried away. I don't know of any restaurant, table or quick service, where there are outlets available in the seating areas.

You can carry them in a backpack with no problem, but why?!

we have at least 2 dinning reservations a day so i figured then.. When we were waiting to get seated / eating.. About an hour altogether.. I was mainly hoping to supplement the battery backup i will be getting..

Question - What type of battery life did you get? We will be in the park from open to close, well planing on being in them that is..

thanks again..

to be honest my main taught is this.. My phone is old.. Almost 2 years.. Internet is slow to say the least and the screen is only 2".. The other half has a newer phone but it’s still limited.. (ie he won’t let me hack it.. lol)

I have all the attractions tagged on Google Maps, and everything, reservations - tickets - guide books – must see lists – flyers etc digitized.. I figured it would be easier to carry one device in place of a binder, and a guide book or two..

Also --- I’m a died in the wool GEEK.. lol :rotfl:

I agree with others, I wouldn't take it into the park. I put all that on my iphone and it was great, but I couldn't imagine an iPad in my backpack all day not getting bumped around.

I put a small hand towel folded over in the bottom of my backpack as padding for my 2 cameras and camcorder for when I put it down, or if DH takes it since he tends to drop bags from a foot off the ground. My bag gets bumped around on rides. I usually put it down by my feet, and put one foot through the shoulder straps but it still slides around and gets bumped around.

You're better off using paper maps and making planning cards that someone has the template for on here somewhere. I made one for each day, laminated them, and put them on a binder ring. I also put all the info in my iPhone and never once had to refer to it. The cards were just that good!

I just found the post. These are the cards I printed on 5x7 index cards. Put all pertinent info, and laminated them. I made 2 sets, one for my back pack and one for the room just in case. I had all ADRs, notes, things to see, everything on them and they were amazing!

Hope they help
