Ive asked myself the normal questions where am I going to use it ect... and I am leaning towards the Wi-Fi although the 3G seems so much more convienent. So I am going to ask everyone else:

If you have purchased the iPad2 with Wi-Fi only do you now wish you had bought the 3G?

If you have the iPad2 with 3G do you find you rarely use the 3G? Or love the option?

I am going for the iPad2 Ive been waiting for the iPad3 to drop so I could get the 2 at a lower price =)

Have Wi-Fi only and I am perfectly happy with my purchase. I have no regret about not having 3G. I haven't had a need for it.

iuse my 3G all the time. The wifi is very slow at work, we take the iPad in the car, etc. You can pay for the data month by month so if you don't use it much you don't py. For the difference in price I like that if I need it it is there and you can't add it later.

I used the 3G all the time. Its great for vacations especially when a hotel charges for WiFi

I guess it depends on how much you plan on using it if you're out of wi-fi range. Personally, with my Android tablet, I find that most times when I use it, I have a wi-fi connection. On those rare occasions I need to look something up when out of range, I just use my phone. If the cost of the 3G connection was just the additional one time difference between the two tablets, I'd probably go for it, but having to add the data plan of whatever carrier provides the 3G service makes it too expensive for me.

I have 3G and am glad I have it. Just last week my router quit one morning so I used the 3G to look up the problem. Plus at most airports the WiFi is way too slow, so I mostly use the 3G then. Also it is nice to use on a trip out on the interstate.

We have only used wifi but i am going to be annoyed not to be able to use it on vacation. Wish we got 3g, but it is so expensive!

I only have wifi and don't miss the 3G. That said, I am home bound usually and don't travel away from wifi much. I use the wifi all around town, like the food store, YMCA, coffee shops, library, etc. and that's been enough for me.

I guess I'll miss it the one week I'm in Disney, but it might be nice to be away for electronics once in a while. And I don't need another bill.

I have one from work which doens't have 3G. I spend most of my evenings and weekends sitting around dance studios, orchestra rehearsals, sports practices, etc., while my kids are at their activities. None of these places have WiFi, and I would use the iPad much more if it had 3G.

That said, I don't love the iPad all that much, and would never pay for it in the first place, much less pay for the 3G.

I would never buy the Ipad without the 3g. If you only plan to use it in your own house, it is fine, but if you plan to travel with it or take it places (which in my opinion is really one of the primary purposes of the Ipad), then not having 3g can be a pain. My inlaws are constantly complaining about places that don't have wifi or charge for wifi. i.e. other peoples houses including relatives, certain restaurants, hotels, driving down the road etc. I watched MIL get completely irritated with the waitstaff at one place (a national chain restaurant) because their wifi was password protected and they did not let customers have access. The inlaws run into several places that they can't use their device and they always get irritated about it- my response is "you should have bought the 3g instead of relying on other places to have bought and installed what you need to make your device work there". Really, the only places we get a lot of use out of our ipad are places that don't have wifi. My Mom doesn't even own a computer, much less wifi, so if we want to be connected at her house with more than a phone we need the ipad with 3g. For us, the Ipad wouldn't be worth the money without the 3g.

I have the iPad 2 with 3G and I regret getting it. I've had it since august and never turned the 3G on. I thought I would use the 3G when traveling for the kids to watch Netflix but I've just been downloading free kids shows from iTunes and the kids watch that. In fact, we are going on a trip over spring break and I'm not planning on activating 3G. I haven't stayed in a hotel yet that doesn't have wifi. I should mention that I have an iPhone and can check email and use the Internet when I need to when traveling. Good luck with your decision. You will LOVE your iPad :)

I have the wi-fi verison and am fine. I have my iphone when I really need 3G. Last time I was checking on my iphone plan they suggested I use optoin where my iphone can be a hot spot so that will take care or if I HAVE to have 3G.

Very great answers! My Mom has the original iPad with the option for 3g but she also has an iphone that turns into a hotspot lucky lady she is so she does not connect the 3g. I always end up sitting somewhere waiting on the kids during their activities reading a book or playing on my phone. Plus DD4 is having a minor surgery next week which will leave me alone in the waiting room for 4 hours I am trying to buy it prior to this. Decisions decisions...

At&T charges an extra 15 a month to turn your iphone into a hotspot.

I have an iphone so opted not to get the 3g on the ipad. My kids' music school does offer free wi-fi so it's nice to use there.

Most hotels we use offer free wifi when we travel. We have wifi at home so I can download books or movies to watch when we do travel.

If I didn't have an iPad, I wouldn't get an iPad 2, I'd get the new iPad, even though it is more expensive.

That said, I have an iPad 2 with wi-fi and my husband has one with 3G. If I were doing it again, I'd get the 3G as well. It would be so much more convenient. I do have an iPhone 4, so have considered using it as a hotspot, but haven't done so yet.

I got my husband the iPad 2 WiFi for his birthday last May. He says he loves it and wouldn't have been happy with the 3G and having to pay a fee. He travels a lot for work and finds that there are so many hot spots around where he travels that he hasn't had a problem with it.

Have Wi-Fi only and I am perfectly happy with my purchase. I have no regret about not having 3G. I haven't had a need for it.

Same here, everywhere I take my Ipad outside of the home has wifi such as airports, hotels, kids dance studios. I can't see having another monthly bill as I also have an Iphone.

Wife has the 3G and uses it constantly. They don't permit her to access the wifi at work (school) and she gets off 45 minutes before the kids are out. So, she uses it in the car waiting on them. Also when traveling. We didn't have wi-fi at the house (do now), so she probably had the IPad 4-5 months before she ever used the wi-fi. Before that was all 3G, and still 90% of the time that's how she uses it.

Just an FYI for anyone looking at an Ipad 2 (2nd Gen)... While speaking with an Apple rep today, they informed me that any Ipad 2 (2nd Gen) over 16gb listed as "refurbished" in their online store are actually brand new and moved there for sale since the new Ipad is now released for ordering. Just some savings news to pass on...:)

I have the WiFi only version only because i cant justify another payment...I already have a smartphone which i use in times my ipad cant be, but in all our travels, we always have wifi in our hotel room(i make sure when i book)...Once in a long while i think 3G would be nice, but 99% of the time i am more than happy with the wifi only! :thumbsup2 (and i have had my ipad 2 for almost a year)
